New Proposed Route
Hi Folks, I'm Scott aka Riptrack59, I'm basically new to creating in TS2014. By basically, I mean that I only know the very basics of getting content into TS2014. Since 2003 I've been working in another train simulator. For the last five years or so I've been researching and working on my main project that is called the Laurel Line Project. I have since left working in that other simulator because of the lack of support. After taking a look at what TS2014 has to offer the user, I thought it would be a good idea to somehow transfer my project to TS2014. To do this I will need some help. While I've been using the Blender program to make my models, I know very little what is needed to import these models into TS2014.
I'm looking for two or three people to become project partners (team members) in helping me create my Laurel Line Project into a TS2014 route. At this time I have one other person willing to help. Since there plenty of object to make, I believe four to five people should be able to cover it. I'm not just looking for other model builders, I'll also need a good route builder that knows his or her way around the route editor in TS2014.
Now for the good stuff...
What is the Laurel Line? I could type out a long and exhausting read on the history of this route but I'll take the easy way out.
Here is a brief Laurel Line history...

Where is the Laurel Line? I got that covered to.

This is a map in Google Earth that shows where the Laurel Line was located on a modern day map.
If you have Google Earth, You can download this map here...

Lastly, I'd like to show some of the models. These are a bit rough but it a start.
The Coach Trolley

The Freight Motor

If you are interested in joining or have any questions about the project, feel free to ask.
This project won't officially launch until I have enough team members in place.

Re: New Proposed Route
Is it possible to have a bit more info without downloading things from a Dropbox?
I'm guessing that it's set somewhere in the US due to mention of a 'Freight Motor'
As UKTS is mainly British and European the responce might be low and Railworks America might have a better audiance.
Not to say people here don't do american but it's not at the top of the list for most people.

Re: New Proposed Route
Sorry, but what is wrong with him providing info through his shared Dropbox folder? I think it's a very helpful way of disseminating what is otherwise privately gathered and edited information!
But Scott, if that is not acceptable to the forum, I will happily upload your stuff to my own domain and make it available if you wish.
Being a Brit living in the US for the past 14+ years, I would be happy to help but unfortunately I do not have the advanced skills you will need. I'm a "tweaker" rather than a creator, albeit enthusiastic, LOL!

For some reason my employer does not give me access to a Dropbox.chrisonline wrote:Sorry, but what is wrong with him providing info through his shared Dropbox folder? I think it's a very helpful way of disseminating what is otherwise privately gathered and edited information!

I don't think the use of the dropbox is unacceptable to this forum.
Would it have been to much to say the line runs from A to B and here are some websites with more info - there must be something on the net.

There are a considerable number of employers whose IT security policy blocks a number of sites, dropbox, youtube and even this site is blocked by some employers.
If you can't get to dropbox from your employers network then I guess you will have to wait until you can Internet access elsewhere.
Users of this site have been using dropbox for a number of years.

Re: New Proposed Route
Hi Guys, the Dropbox was set up for the project and the team members to share all the information and files. At this time I have no place to store pictures. Let me see if there is a better way to show these pictures. Every forum seem to be different when it comes to the Dropbox.

Yes, I have all these pictures in my collection and plenty more. There's also a DVD out called Ed Millers, A Ride On The Laurel Line. There is also a book called An Anthracite Region Railway. I've used these a lot in my research.749006 wrote:I can see the info properly now I'm at home.

Re: New Proposed Route
Hi, Scott!
I looked at your Dropbox pix - and I see no problem at all with using this neat system - and I was reminded of an outwardly similar venture on Railworks America, at http://railworksamerica.com/index.php/d ... collection.
I don't know if there are collaborative possibilities here?
I'm afraid that that's about the limit of my ability to assist, but I wish you all success with the Laurel Line - and shall look out for Betas...
Rather less relevantly, if you want (a) to relax with a superb tramway, and (b) to test out your fine new stock, can I suggest Gor's Tranvias 1930 route? (PM me if you can't find the 1668mm stock pack...).
Kind regards,
John M

Re: New Proposed Route
Hi John, thanks for the link to the North Shore Route. I'll have to take a look at that.
It's proven to be a challenge to get people together for this project and that's ok. I may get my feet wet in TS2014 by aiding some other folks first. Eventually the route will be made...I spent too much time researching it not to make it.

I also wanted to let some of you know that I have no PM privileges at this time so if you are trying to PM me, I'm not getting it. Please post below for right now.
[Moderator Comment: kiwipete - You can actually send and receive PM messages, we would rather you did not post PM type messages that may contain email addresses etc in the forum]

You have to lay Electric Track - the locos/units in the game get their info from the Track as to power supply.
So you can have an electric train moving where no wires/third rail exists. The reverse also applies.

Re: New Proposed Route
as for posting pictures, as already said Dropbox is ok.
if the pictures are up to that standard and If your really stuck for space, I would quite happliy upload them to my atomic albulm as I hardly use it really. Not sure how we would work it. But I am sure its doable.

While most of the line was 3rd rail, there were sections of the Laurel Line that had overhead wire. Is it possible to switch between the two power supplies?749006 wrote: Something you might not know.
