I can now run the majority of the scenerios, two that I can't are "Ticket to Ryde" - error message is 'Can't load rail vehicle - SR_exLBSC_comp' and 'Broken consist -modified', the other is "Two into one" - error message is 'Can't load rail vehicle - FP Fowler 3F Jinty (KNG)' and Broken consist - modified'. The former is definitely in the JeffLayf asset folder, but I cannot find the latter at all.

It did not help that my integrity was called into doubt, I may have not installed the two main asset rwps, I doubt it though as there are only seven rwps as listed in the printed out readme. A complete uninstall using the package manager followed by a reinstall and installation of additional assets seems to have cured the problems for the most part.

To go off topic, the route is brilliant.

The Jinty is contained in the UKTS Freeware Steam pack, hence the letters FP at the start of its ID.

I recently purchased Train Simulator 2013 - Europe Ultimate Collection at 111.99 GBP through Steam (10 days before they reduced the price by 50%). All the routes were OK (and well enjoyed) apart from Isle of Wight. On loading any of the Scenarios, the screen is filled with disparate triangles of colour, in all shapes and sizes, see screenshots.

Image
I can control trains, but cannot see what they are doing, or where they are going. I then get a message that a dump has occurred, and the game ceases. Also, in the Build section, any attempt to grab an IoW asset immediately causes the same problem. I contacted Steam Support (what a rigmarole trying to get a question through to them that is not on their FAQ list!) They suggested
“Please check to make sure your game files are installed correctly.
Right-click on the game in your Library list and go to Properties > Local Files > Verify Integrity of Game Cache.
NOTE: There may be files that fail to validate. This is normal and can be ignored.
After Steam verifies the game cache, try running the game again."
This I have done several times, but the problem persists.
They then suggested
"If you continue to experience this issue, please contact the game manufacturer for support.”
I contacted RS (now Dovetail Games) on 28 November and got the reply
"Thank you for contacting the Railsimulator.com customer support, your enquiry has been logged with a member of our dedicated customer support team.

We are currently aware of the issue with the "Isle of Wight" scenarios that you have described, our developers are working on a fix and we hope to distribute it on STEAM once complete.

Please reply to this email rather than generating a new email, this will avoid any confusion, it also enables us to read the history of all correspondence in order to provide you with quicker assistance and better support.

Sorry that you may have been experiencing some difficulties, please accept our apologies for any inconvenience."
I contacted them again on 16 December
"Have there been any developments with the fix? I still cannot get any of the scenarios to run, nor place any of the assets on my route under development."
and got the standard reply
"Thank you for contacting the Railsimulator.com customer support, your inquiry has been logged with a member of our dedicated customer support team.
If you see a Scenario.bin error then please press F2 and select to save the game, immediately after, it should then start to play normally.
Did you know that you may switch off the career scoring if you prefer to play career scenarios, without the scoring system enabled.
Switch On or Off Career Scoring.
1. From main menu, go to "Settings",
2. Then select "Gameplay"
3. Then select "Score Career Scenarios"
4. Select the option to either turn the career scoring On or Off.
The achievement system has recently been completely revamped, further information about it may be made
available over the coming months via the usual media outlets.
Please reply to this email rather than generating a new email, this will avoid any confusion, it also enables
us to read the history of all correspondence in order to provide you with quicker assistance and better support.
Sorry that you may have been experiencing some difficulties , please accept our apologies for any inconvenience."
A further enquiry on 5 January
"Am still awaiting a reply to my message of 16 Dec, regarding my original query of 27 Nov. I still have a route that does not work, nor am I able to use any of its features, When is the likely date for the fix that was promised?"
has still to be acknowledged.
The problem persists, as I tried to run the route this morning, with the same result.
Can anyone shed any light on this?
regards
Nick

chrisonline wrote:John, respectfully, I think you may now realize that your rather damning indictment of the route was not well-founded, and was down to not fully installing all the assets correctly, and/or not understanding the issue with .ap files etc (which is nothing to do with the route or its creators). That's fine, we all learn, and all help each other out in understanding.

But could I please suggest that you edit or delete your earlier post? The reason I suggest this is that, as I am sure you realize, posts on these forums get searched and found in Google. I would hate for such a negative-sounding and undeserving post to remain searchable and visible indefinitely, because it's a fine route, and the result of fantastic development work by the team. Many others have said so and confirmed that.

Not wishing to criticize here . . I just don't want to see great work be publicly maligned for perpetuity.

Chris
John, I am re-quoting my post earlier, because if you re-read it I am sure you will see that nowhere am I questioning your integrity. My point was that you had posted quite an indictment of the route which will be found "out there" (not just within the forum) by people Googling it, yet now you are saying "the route is quite brilliant". So I am just respectfully asking that you delete (or EDIT it for clarity) your earlier post to avoid someone seeing a negative post about what is actually an excellent route and quality work by a group of people. Wouldn't you want that if you were the developer?

Absolutely no question of your integrity, please trust me. And nowhere do I suggest that!

Hi Alan
Anyone know where I can find the SR Ex LBSC coaches?
I get a 'can't load scenario' due to the missing coaches.
I have checked that I have all the files downloaded and installed, but they are still missing.
Looking at the route it looks a vast improvement, the atmosphere is how I remember it in the early sixties. 19 not 18
If they are not in the listed assets, then you can get them in file id 24602 and file id 24624 (patch)

Regards

Dave

Hello all the easy answer to the water problem is to run with simple controls not expert then you don't get any problems with running short of water.
I have a feeling even running in expert mode you still cant fill up with water I did try it quick but it did not seem to fill up I may be wrong about this maybe someone can try it

I think the problem with the consumption of water in the O2 cropped up in the last version of the route, so is not a new problem. There were two BR Black versions, clean and dirty and only one of them was so-afflicted, so the first thing I would try would be swapping it for the other one.

I'm certain the problem was solved, it might be this upload but I'm not 100% certain:
http://www.uktrainsim.com/filelib-info. ... leid=30880
Obviously you do not want to install the included scenarios on the new version of the route, just the locos.

Worth a try, anyway. It may be that the new route has an old version which has written over the improved one.

John

Update - found the thread about it at http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... &sk=t&sd=a and it finishes before the above file was released so that should be the fix.

Hi John,
I'm interested in your scenario 'Two into One' It sounds like an earlier version has found its way into the route pakage.
The last version I made was calledTwo into One Will Go v7 GS and uses the O2. The Jinty was used as a stop-gap measure until a fully working O2 was available.
I'll get in touch with Ian about this. All of the latest scenario versions should have v7 or v7 GS in the titles.
This also applies to 'Ticket to Ryde' - the latest version is Ticket to Ryde v7 GS and also uses the Adams O2

Graham (Kernow2),

That scenario is listed as Two into One Will Go v7 GS Adams 02. The Freshwater Pick Up Goods v7 GS is listed under Free Roams and the Free Roam and Ticket To Ryde won't run due to missing SR_exLBSC stock which is not missing.

Have tried this and all locos suffer the same problem i.e. running out of water. I think this file is no different to the one in the new assets file for the line.
I dont understand how whoever created the scenarios managed to fully test them and get to the end without this problem occurring??

OK, sorry that didn't work.

I have compared the files in that download against mine and they are indeed different. The critical ones are dated 8/4/13 and my equivalent ones are 11/4/13. Unless the dates change when you install this suggests there was an update to that release a few days later.

The ones Ive used are dated 11/4/13 and like I say I have found no difference, i.e. still running out of water. Ive swapped out the O2 now with the Jinty and now have no problems, although probably not true to the real life route. At least I can play the scenarios.

When we first got hold of the O2 it exhibited the faults you mention. It was then updated and it would appear that I still have the updated version.and not the the earlier version.
I have uploaded my O2 files to the groups' Skydrive and I am hoping this will be tested by another group member. If my suspicions are correct then the updated version will be made available as soon as is practically possible!
I am currently writing a scenario which takes an O2and 6 coaches (it's route maximum) from Ryde Pier Head to Ventnor which it does to published times - although the climb from to Wroxall and on to Ventnor requires a little care to keep the loco working efficiently. It doesn't run out of water either..

Thanks for your interest and patience..
