DT Light Pacific controls problem
Hello all,
Has anyone encountered any problems using the keyboard for controlling the Light Pacific by Digital Traction? I tried it today on a GEML scenario using Tangmere and was looking forward to a first run in the Spam Can. Having had the Track.bin error, I moved the loco forward and backward (or tried to, being at Liverpool Street!) Saved, exited, and re-played. It worked, but I noticed none of the keyboard controls were working.
Actually, only half the controls were movable with the mouse, but all the controls worked in the F4 HUD though. I edited the scenario and checked the 'Force Expert Controls' box and tried again, but no keyboard control was working and was the same situation as before. I quit and went to settings, and the controller is set to Keyboard/Mouse combination, and I have Expert Controls set too.
I tried the manual to see if the keys are different or something but no mention of the keyboard controls are disabled or whatever. I refuse to drive with the daft looking Fisher Price controls so I'd like to know if there's something wrong with the installation maybe or can you not drive with the keyboard controls?
Any help appreciated!
James.

I noticed this issue too. I think it was fixed recently? If not there is a fix by editing one of the input mappers and changing just one word.
Can't check right now but I hope someone else comes in and heps out.

I've tried Choccy's suggestion in that thread but like tubemad the Light Pacific remains uncontrollable with the keyboard.
Re: DT Light Pacific controls problem
There is a patch on the DT web site for the light pacific. Not sure if this will help with your problem!

Re: DT Light Pacific controls problem
Just did a quick test and sure enough, the StopGo fix in the RWtools editor worked wonders thanks very much for that!
Didn't notice it was on my thread, but then at the time I didn't have the LP anyway.
I did install the patch first by the way, that didn't solve anything, so tried Choccy's suggestion which worked wonders!
RichDawson - Have you followed the instructions carefully? Maybe there was a typo (easy to do!) or maybe forgot to do 'save as TS2103 file'? This fixed worked for me having followed the instructions. Do you have expert controls on too?

Re: DT Light Pacific controls problem
Thanks for taking the time to reply guys, it's very much appreciated. I've tried the StopGo fix in RW Tools, remembering to save as a TS2014 file. Unfortunately it didn't work and I tried it again using a backup file but to no avail. I also tried clearing the cache files but still no luck I'm afraid. I am using the Expert controls also.
I've just checked the DT facebook page, there is a fix available and RSC should have them. Might fire off an email tomorrow to DT.

If you are still having problems have you checked the relevant file to ensure that your changes have been saved correctly. RWTools needs to be installed and run as an administrator to work correctly so this could be an issue. Other than an incorrect emendation, I can't think of anything else that could still be causing the problem unless, perhaps, your LP is not patched to the latest version before making the necessary amendment.

Re: DT Light Pacific controls problem
Thanks again for taking the time to reply choccy. For some reason, when I de-binned the file and looked at the xml file, it appeared that RW Tools hadn't saved it proplerly. I edited the file, saved it and re-binned it but to no avail. RW Tools is running with admin rights but I think the issue with RW Tools is purely lack of experience with RW Tools on my side and not the editor itself.choccy wrote:If you are still having problems have you checked the relevant file to ensure that your changes have been saved correctly. I think you're on the ball with my version of the LP not being up to date. I think the remaining options for me is to backup my Assets folder, verify the integrity of game cache within steam and if that fails fire off an email to DT explaining my issue.
Re: DT Light Pacific controls problem
According to the DT web site, They were going to send RSC the updates to fix this problem, This was way back in November.
Re: DT Light Pacific controls problem
Ive got a rather big issue too. The number 1 view of the footplate works fine but, sat ontop of the loco is the footplate if it were to be viewed from the outside (number 2) view. Any help?
