Hi Jim,
From your description of the issue it seems that it's the various forms of Drivers Vigilance Device's (DVD's) that are causing this problem for you.
Assuming that's the case then it's potentially a very easy fix. The recent class 90 from AP for example comes with a functioning DVD. It also has an option to enable an on-screen pop-up message alerting the user that it's going off (as does the standard AWS). This welcome function is designed to allow those who use various out-of-cab views to do so without being caught out but it appears in cab as well and I imagine that it would fit your bill to a tee.
Now I'm no scripting expert but I can't think of any good technical reason why this feature couldn't be applied to any item of stock that comes with a DVD, and frankly I cant think of any good reason why it shouldn't. If the various content providers cant be persuaded to adopt this as a standard feature for new items, or indeed to retro-fit it to existing stock (and just how difficult or expensive a process could that really be?) then perhaps one of the more technically minded members of the community here might be able to come up with a patch for it. It's possible they could be stepping on proprietary toes I suppose but if a vendor chose to spit the dummy out over something that could assist the deaf community, as well as provide an improved product for the wider user-base, then they might as well pull down the shutters and shut up shop!
Good luck getting this addressed.
Regards,

Re: Trespassers
Jim, could you list exactly which stock is giving you the problem?
