Problem Installing UKTS Freeware Packs

Post by chrisonline »

I have tried to install UKTS 27134 (UK DMUs/EMUs/Trams #1) for the first time, and tried to update UKTS 27138 (UK Steam #1) to v1.1.2

In both cases I get the error "Setup Wizard ended prematurely because of an error". No error code, and no further explanation.

I have cross-checked that the installation path is correct. I have also run the .exe file both as normal, and "as administrator". Using Windows 7 64bit.

I didn't have this problkem before, but it was pre-TS2014.

Anyone else having a problem? Is TS2014 causing a problem? If not, what is the issue?

Try http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 5&t=134226 and http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 5&t=134156 for starters. It'd probably be worthwhile posting your problem in the Freeware packs forum as well.

Hi Gary, thanks for your advice, I only got around to this again this morning (US time!)

Those links didn't lead me anywhere, but I resorted to the tried and trusted PC reboot. This resolved the Foliage Pack new installation, which worked, but now I got a "network error reading .msi file" error on the update to the UK Steam Pack.

Further research showed that this was the result of the uninstall of the earlier version failing (I wonder if that happens if any files have been modified by me?), and the following Microsoft link provided a "Microsoft Fix It" utility to deal with it: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/progr ... uninstall/ (which I now have as a short cut in my Utilities & Maintenance folder!) (thanks to nobkins in his previous post)

Hopefully this might help others with installation or updating of UKTS Freeware Pack problems

MODS: would you like to transfer this to the Freeware Packs Forum? Sorry, I was unaware of that when I first posted.
