About time I gave something back

Post by deltic009 »

So, after much help over the years from the community in many shapes and forms I have decided to get off my backside and look at getting things packaged up and together with readme files etc to share with everybody else on here. Currently pending are 5 files all of varying different required workloads - unfortunately I'm unsure how I put the pending upload links within my forum post but if you keep a look out then hopefully you will see them soon. They are in no particular order...

Departmental Grey Class 31

Class 170 CrossCountry Web advertising

Class 31 31413 Severn Valley Railway

Hopefully these will clear quick enough and you folks can enjoy them. The 221 is a particularly pleasing end result and it's such a shame that the tilt needs to be disabled to stop the body tilting over all of the custom decals and 3D nameplate that I spent so long building.

Right, its the first time I've ever tried uploading and something has gone awry, the 221 is done and available, but all the others failed for being 0 bytes even though I'm looking at the zip files and their contents right now.

Anyway, I'll crack back on in a bit and see what is wrong and try again.

You might find it easier and achieve greater success using the FTP SideLoad facility.

If you click on the FAQ at the top of the page and scroll down to
I'm not having a good time with the web based upload, what other options are there?
This explains how to use the SideLoad and the software options available to achieve it.

Thanks Peter. I've now re uploaded all of the zip files and now they show the correct amounts of data, so hopefully that will be it. Does anyone know how to embed links to the files in forum posts? I've seen it done before and it would make the thread end up a bit more complete I think.

You'll need to find your file ID. This is the format: [uktsfile nnnn]

I have downloaded the superb SVR & the dept grey 31 re-skins, i was just wondering if there is a way to alter the reskins already made for the RSC 31, namely red stripe railfreight for the skinhead (earlier bodystyle) type and original large logo railfreight for the headcode (later bodystyle) type, although a re-skin in red stripe has already been done its for the wrong body type for what im trying to create, if there is anyone that can point me in the right direction i would be very thankful

Hi Deltic...
full marks... they are really nice skins indeed. 31413 looks the pick of the bunch for me and for someone who loves BR Blue diesels, even the Voyager has captured my imagination. I will be flexing my download membership in due course. Very well done - you have a hidden talent I hope you will do more...

31418 with white painted Boadicea (spelling) name maybe?
31101 in it's one off nasty?
That .geopdx file is not a code used by the Rebel Alliance...

Could you provide a picture of either of these to increase the likelihood of it occurring. I've found a shot of 31418 in BR Blue with white circles painted around the tailights at Stafford - is that the livery you had in mind or was it purely the nameplate addition?

Having been sensible and made backup copies first of course..
you could try swapping the .GeoPcDx files over; the class 31 only has 3 main textures that would be edited (body, roof and details) so the only one likely to be problematical is the roof, where the headcode box is/was depending on how you're changing things. Depending on the colour you want the roof you may even be able to swap the it for one mapped to the *right* .Geo which would save having to reskin that particulat one. If the textures are named differently just rename them to suit---easier than editing the .Geo, particularly if you intend to upload them here or any other site.

It turned out it wasn't that simple GP, as well as the little roof vent versus the big headcode box, the other main difference is that the position of the lamp irons and number of lights on the nose below the window are also different and this is reflected in the respective textures. After a bit of chopping and changing I now think I have what was asked for, now to consider this 31418 jobbie if I can find anymore source photos - in that particular condition it seems very unphotographed.

So, 31160, could you confirm this was the two livery/body style combinations you asked for. if so, I'll get them packaged up and uploaded ASAP.
