I wonder if the cafe coach will be at Minehead. Depends what research they have though as the last time I went there the coach was gone :?

As far as i know its back on the mainline ( i think with FGW )

Was the ECML that got bundled with the sim ages ago not BR Blue 1970s?

Well yes but that dates back to Rail Simulator 2008, I have that and it is a good route but more variety would be nice. The only other routes (and I am going on payware here) set in that period are yet more sections of the ECML and the admittedly lovely looking China Clay. I don't have the latter partly because as a predominately passenger train fan it offered little scope, if it had the complete Newquay Branch I would have purchased it.

We have modern routes covering from the South Coast to Scotland and we have steam routes from the south west to the Scottish lowlands.

Don't get me wrong this is not a criticism as such as I have most of the routes and am as happy pottering along a branchline with a Pannier or driving an up to date EMU on a commuter train out of a London terminus.

I have to say though, I would have thought the BR period from the late 1960's till privatisation would have been a prime area for sales, but maybe I am wrong?! I would just like to see more bespoke routes for this period and covering a larger area of the country.

Hi Deltic,
ECML is fine actually, and great if you specialise in Class 55s

Yeah it has a kind of 'dated' feel to it now in comparison with other routes on offer more recently. I imagine the currently in development ECML between Peterboro and Doncaster by a 3rd party (all screenshots show BR Blue era) will float my boat.

That said, I'd really like to tackle the run out of Paddington with a Class 50 (without OLE to airport junction) or even out of Waterloo on a trip to Salisbury too. Dawlish Wall... oh the joy...

Imagine (all) if you will, a 99 mile run between Leicester and St Pancras in the late 1970s and early 1980s... Semaphores, proper trains and oodles of atmos. Would it really take that much for steam loco fanciers to suspend their disbelief for a change and be back in the 1950s/60s?

Euston to Rugby/Coventry (Northampton line inclusive too) in the 1970s and 1980s... oh what fun.

Lately it seems to be 'heritage' or ultra modern with little in between.

Going back on topic, I am more inclined to have another think about Watercress as opposed to this one, but I'll see. The 'Alps' out of Alton seems to capture my imagination more imo.

Spellow I like your thinking!

I have Mid Hants and it is very good and well detailed. I will be getting this. I enjoy heritage lines as sometimes it is nice to relax and watch the virtual world go by!

I am keeping an eye on the next part of the ECML and will get it with the original. However we have so much of the BR blue diesel fleet available plus growing numbers of DMU's yet only have part of the ECML and a small corner of Cornwall to realistically drive them on!

Back to WSC, it looks like release is imminant, as the 'Achievements' have already been added to Steam - these also give an indication of the included stock:

S&D No. 88 (7F 2-8-0)
GWR No. 6960 'Raveningham Hall'
Class 33 No. D6575
Class 03 BR green
Class 47 BR green

('Achievements'' are also listed for the 321, so it looks like this is on the way as well)

I'm not too sure if the appearance of achievements are actually a clue to the imminent release of an item of DLC. For example, the achievements for the upcoming Coaster pack have been visible for at least a month now, but it still hasn't been released, and the ICE-T achievements were visible for a similar amount of time prior to its release.

Anyway, RSC have just released a load of new screenshots, including ones of the included Hall, 7F, and Class 33:

So, no new stock then? No Hydraulics? :(

A missed opportunity IMHO.

Hopefully this is not an attempt to placate the steam buffs who have been clamouring for a proper main line from the steam era - chuffing along at 25 Mph on a single line in the currently available express locos doesn't quite fit that bill. The only one produced so far was the original Slow & Dirty - and that wasn't even complete - something about not going any further because single line working made it hard to make scenarios I seem to remember ?
I am sure someone is building the Bluebell, infact most preserved railways seemed to have been covered!I don't expect RSC to trawl through the forums to see what routes are being built!

Personally I am still waiting for a 1970's classic blue route!

Well there is my Settle and Carlisle Mod that might keep you going until they do...

I received the West Somerset Diesels: Class of 47 achievement when I was testing a scenario based around a Midland Pullman charter I had created for the ECML. I clicked on an AI Class 47 in BR Green so I could "jump in" and test something and got the achievement. Very odd.

Indeed. I seem to have got it by running a BR big logo 47 on Test Trak in a freeroam whilst testing a signal script!
