When I loaded a route I was offline so I did not get the 'Top Tips' but the 'moving' Loading bar had disappeared as well.emrhd01 wrote:Hi Chris,
Tried that, but although the slide show is replaced with Fodda's changing pictures, unfortunately the 'moving' Loading bar that appears along the bottom of the screen when a Scenario loading is now missing, but the Scenario's do load OK.Any ideas?

Re: Top Tips screens replaced with my menu images.
The animated loading bar (which was also updated in the last patch) does indeed go missing when using my slideshow images. I personally like having the loading bar, especially this much clearer new version, as I can see easily when TS stops loading and gives me a hidden SBHH error that I have to Alt-Tab to see (why can't they fix the window focus problem there).
Having spent a couple of hours yesterday having a look through all the loading screens and files associated, I've not yet found a way of having both a custom loading screen and loading bar. And although I've tried other ways of getting my background replacements to work, again I've hit a brick wall.
I'm not going to work for ages trying to get these things to work again, I've got better things to do (Skyrim, TS2013 etc) but I'll occasionally have a little tinker under the bonnet...
Until then, I'm leaving things as they are. The main window images I made still work, and the loading slideshow can be made to work if one doesn't mind losing the loading bar. If I find a fix, or indeed, if anyone can offer a fix, I'll gladly sort it all and reupload my packages to the library.
Until then all I can say is, it was fun whilst it lasted...

The screens are great and (personally) the loading bar is not an issue. Are you re-issuing the package with the revised file structure (and presumably the warning to users that the bar will disappear)?

Re: Top Tips screens replaced with my menu images.
Remaking the packages takes a good long while, especially with rewriting the readmes and everything.
Had another long look this afternoon at decompiling and looking at swf files, but they're beyond my ken so I'm afraid I'm giving up on providing backgrounds and animated loading screens. Sorry about that, but I'm not prepared any more to spend hours of my life working on making mods and patching TrainGame only to have the next update or patch make my mods useless.
This doesn't only apply to the loading screens, but TS2014 has also broken the majority of my occlusion mods which took weeks of hard work to make. I'm not going through all that again. TrainGame is supposed to be editable by the end user, so why RSC keeps confounding us with code changes and barely any documentation on what they've done and why is beyond me.
I'm just going to leave all my library files uploaded, but I'll not be doing any more end user mods. Just feeling much too let down by this release and the problems it's caused me.

Excellent stuff and thank you for putting in the effort to get rid of endlessly repeating 'top tips' screens.

Guys in this thread - if you have a read of this in another thread

.. then the juggle of the previous version of gamemanager.dll retains Foddas original concept of meaningful screens!

Re: Top Tips screens replaced with my menu images.
Thanks for that hint. Not sure what gamemanager.dll does, and I've only got my TS2013 copy rather than a pre-patch TS2014 copy so can't easily try it here.
But yet another little "fix" from the commumity.
Cheers

Re: Top Tips screens replaced with my menu images.
Yes, that works but you don't get the loading bar animation with my files inserted.
I've removed my splashscreens package from the library as it is now pretty useless and doesn't work anywhere near as well as I'd like. In fact the readme was totally outdated as well and I really can't be ar**d to start fixing stuff when RSC may well break everything next week with their next patch.
Really disillusioned with the game now.

Don't be disillusioned. You have my gratitude (and that of many others I'm sure) for producing your loading screens and the video. The video "re-named and re-positioned" does lose the loading bar, but since your screens change every 4 to 5 seconds , that in itself provides adequate indication that the game is continuing to load. If the loading pauses for any reason , your screens pause also.. Who needs a loading bar anyway ?
Your mod, still replaces the "Top Tips", which in my opinion is deliberately designed to be as bland and boring as possible, so that users are more tempted to access the shop, facebook or whatever, where there are more marketing devices. If it were a genuine attempt to provide "tips" , these could have been put in the user manual.
I agree that the work around may only be valid until RSC find a way of breaking it, but at least we don't have to suffer the "Top Tips" in the interim.
I hope that you will reconsider and put your splash screen package back up ( perhaps, if you can find the time, with a little note giving the new location for the files ), but if not without any amendment as most people will be able to dig out the info or work it out themselves. Even I almost worked out what to do unaided, I just picked the wrong new shockwave flash file to replace at my first attempt
Either way, thanks again for your good work , which is still 95% effective.
p.s. Does anyone have the pre update TS2014 .dll file ? I only have the TS2013 sim backed up as the latest update took me completely by surprise

So, quite possibly, this could be a way of choosing your own preferred images to display?...scefhwil wrote:Another piece of the jigsaw?
