South West Wales Route

Post by Traveller54 »

An ask of users of the South West Wales route that seemed to be plagued by SBHHs - and in the end I couldn't even get it to run :(

Now TS2014 is out I tried the route again and, vóila, it opened OK and I slewed around without any apparent problems?

Can anyone else who encountered similar problems please comment in this thread if theirs runs now to?

I had the same problem in TS2013 that it wouldn't even load .
Seems to now load in TS2014 and I ran the 10.00 Pembroke dock - London Paddington scenario for a few minutes and all seemed well .

BUT !!

I then opened up the route to see if it was okay over it's full coverage , Loaded up okay at it's start point at Whitland but only managed to fly a few miles along the line before the Sim crashed .

The Wales and Borders route now loads up as well but I've not flown along that route yet to see if I get the same problem ?

That may well be the old stream asset problem, see http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... s#p1596889

True - but it is the first bit of progress we have had with this route for many a while!!

Certainly, it can only be viewed as a huge positive if this upgrade means folk can enjoy what is arguably one of the best freeware routes for the game!
The only issue I've had (at the initial loading, I haven't played all the scenarios all the way through again yet) was a broken consist in the 1L62 HST service, easily fixed and not a big problem. From the 10 minutes or so in each scenario I have run it for the route does seem to look and perform better than ever---placebo effect maybe of course, but things seem to be on the up.

Like you I have been trying to play this route for a long time but SBHH's kept occurring so I put it in cold storage!! And now it works perfectly. Some of the stock I am finding difficult to find. Can anyone tell me where to get the Class 158 XC. It is a great route and I am getting 30fps for the most part.
Cheers

Glad it is working for you again - phew!

Which scenario for the SWW route is that XC set in as I don't recall it?

Isn't that particular set the one that caused Ally so much grief: kept being reported as missing but in fact had never been used?

Hi, I have managed to run this route without any trouble (except for missing stock) for the first time in a long, long time. I have managed to load up 4 scenarios so far and run for 5-10 mins each and getting over 90 fps on some bits. In fact I seem to think I only ran two scenarios successfully in the past before it all went pear shape . I too could not find the 158 XC so I just swapped it in RW tools. I am so pleased this is now working, it is such a great route.

All the best, Richard.

Have you the latest version?, 3.0 I believe; as I don't have an XC liveried anything in that scenario, nor is there one called for in the version of the scenario I have in the installation .zip file.

Traveller54

I decided to try all the scenarios and see what happened, details below for info. Just for background to explain my TS2014 setup, I recently (a month or so ago) cleaned out my Kuju folder of unused reskins etc and last night had to verify cache. I haven't played the scenarios through to the end but if I've found something I've noted it. Hope this heels inform the debate. All have been checked using RWTools, I was missing some items but was able to download them from UKTS apart from one.

1B59 - Fishguard Harbour - Swansea v3 - Loaded fine, pulled out of initial station but not tested further.
1L62 1000 Pembroke Dock - London Paddington v3 - Loaded fine but got 'Passed Signal at Danger' at the first signal despite it being Green and tab said I was clear.
2E10 0550 Swansea - Pembroke Dock v3 - Loaded fine, pulled out of station but not tested further.
2V43 1845 Builth Road - Cardiff Central v3 - Loaded fine. Stopped at first signal as instructed, advised of new route, green light, tab to proceed, 'Passed Signal at Danger' error.
2Z99 Margam - Margam via Llandeilo Jn Snowplough Trial v3 - Loaded fine, advised to pick passengers at start location, unable to do so as this is a freight service? (T key did not work)
6B26 Margam TC - Trostre Works v1.3 (Version number might explain the following!) - Didn't load, 2 scenario broken consist errors (despite editor fix), Driver 1W15 Lat 51.25374 Long 0.20300 Can't find destination Portal 3, Driver 6B26 Lat 51.04989 Long 018124 Many failures - See Logmate
6B75 1338 Neath Abbey Wharf - Pengram Sidings v3 - Loaded fine, step gradient make initial shunting very challenging.
6C31 Cwmgwrach - Aberthwaw PS v3 - Loaded fine, not tested further.
6C44 Margam TC - Swansea Kings Dock v3 - Loaded fine, not tested further.
6V56 Thameshaven - Llandarey v3 - Loaded fine, not tested further.
Last Post - Part One - Loaded fine, after 12km (apologies didn't notice last station passed) went through a single yellow but got 'Passed Signal at Danger' error.
Wagon Works Tripper - Unable to load, missing Class 37\ews-670\engine\class37_rfd_wp.bin. I had ready had to install the EWS 37670 so knew I had it but not sure where the RFD Ploughs version is. I will swap out with RW Tools and retest.

I have to admit I used to get SBHH most of time previously so I'm really pleased it looks like your wonderful and challenging route might be usable again.

Is the route still available for download? I had to uninstall since it became unplayable. :(
