TS2014 - Railworks.exe has stopped working. - SOLVED

For those who experience the crash and "Railworks.exe has stopped working" while loading scenarios, here' a fix.

I found this on, of all places, the Steam forums.
The fix comes from RSC support.

I contacted Rail Simulator Support and they solved my problem, this is the fix.
Enter your games library on steam, right click on Train Simulator 2014, select properties, select general, select set launch options and enter -VC. Restart your PC.

This worked for me without restarting my PC.

It wont work for myself either, also I cant seem to get physix_9.10.0513 working i getv a fatal error any ideas?

TS2014 was working fine then I started to get the error when i tried to load any scenarios . Entered the -VC in steam and all now working fine. Thanks for that hint.

Twice now, for no obvious reason, I have had the Railworks.exe has stopped working. First time, I pressed the nuke button, deleted Steam and Rail Works and then re-installed - it took about 14 hours!

Happened again today - this time I used the Windows Restore utility and took my settings back and all was well on re-booting the RailWorks.

All I have done before the second failure was install the I Cloud desk top prog and re-install Cologne - Dusseldorf on my PC. Not sure what caused the failure - but I am running on D drive - my PC has a SSD for C drive, not big enough for my 313 gigabytes of RailWorks!!!

So if all else fails, try doing a Restore - go to Search, Systems and then type in Recovery to get the Restore - now named Recovery prog and hope you have a suitable date to return your PC to before your present problems. I have put down a date on Recovery so that I can return to when I know RailWorks was working OK

Well I had to do a complete system restore of my pc thanks to the little one putting a bug on the pc.

So re-set to factory settings. Installed .net 4.5 downloaded steam and downloaded ts2014

Opened it up the minute I get to the main menu click any buttons ie drive,settings etc it crashes to desktop with the error "stea.exe has stopped working" cannot even play the game now. Where as when it upgraded last week it all worked perfectly????

Any soloutions to this please

Spoke to soon - now my lap top will not boot up RailWorks.exe as well as my desk top. Ignore what I wrote above about using Recovery - that really can mess up other progs - My lap top RailWorks is installed on C drive, so that cannot be the problem. I didn't have this problem with 2013 -is there a bug in 2014 that can cause the failure to boot up the game. Tried all the above suggetions - not re-installing RailWorks afresh - with a slow download speed it takes the best part of a day.

Any other suggestions?

Same here david. Can't get past the menu screen. I am using vista and C Drive get to main menu press any buttons get the usual train simulator 2014.exe has stopped working error

There must be a major problem with the 2014 upgrade - I have just got my lap top to work again - by removing and re-installing the prog from Steam. Not ideal. It looks as if adding 3rd party assets seems to jigger the system, 2013 seemed much more stable - why?

I have a clean install with no 3rd party stuff and i can only get the front splash screen, then it stops, i have tried all the recomended things br RSC schanging my Virus settings etc still no luck, I guess thats my train simming over

I've started gettng "Railworks.exe has stopped working" A lot since the update. I've even done a clean install. It seems random to me. No noticeable pattern.

Except I keep getting it when starting a new activity.. even before placing any trains I can get it.. especially on GEML.

I've been experiencing many of the problems mentioned previously in this post on my computer. I have found that by using offline mode and with the router turned off when starting TS2014 the program runs ok. In offline mode what I would term a static scenario loading screen appears immediately, but when connected to the internet thats the point at which Railworks.exe stops working. I'm still trying various scenarios but It looks very promising, I can live without being online when driving. Hope this might be usefull to others having problems.
