Quick note on the 'f9 to refresh' thing.
(1) that should only really be valid in editor mode
(2) it does not reload changed inputmapper blueprints. You have to exit and start again for the new mappings to stick.

[EDIT] Sorry, I just thought I had solved the problem with XP but cannot manage to run the BE 2.0 again.

TS2014 Blueprint Editor 2.0

When you try to launch the new blueprint editor i get the prompt "Please Launch TS2014 At Least Once First"
I got the Sim running minimized and yet it still wont run. This is a great start i gotta say! Anyone else had the problem?

You'll just have to create an empty "Temp" subfolder in the railworks folder. Then just to run TS2014 once so the BlueprintSchema.xml is regenerated. It should now work! I tried this and found no change - still crashes on launch (both from the program direct or through the utilities panel).
When TS2013 was released, RSC clued me in on a simple fix to add
24010 to my steam_appid.txt, which allowed me to use the Asset Editor. However, this trick doesn't work with TS2014 BE2, so I guess many with XP are simply screwed and will have to be happy with the previous version of the BE. I was also informed (TS2013 release) that everyone at RSC are using Win7, which makes me wonder about XP being listed as one of the minimum system requirements for TS2014.
As for upgrading my exiting copy of XP to Win7 or 8 (64), I'll eventually do so, but this will break some older programs that I use on a regular basis.

Try adding the
24010 line to your steam_appid.txt and see if that helps.

I have edited my post as I figured out later that I could not make it work again. Not fast enough it seems. Sorry for raising your hopes in vain.
I have been using XP for ages and just like you I was happy to avoid the newer siblings. This however may trigger the switch to Seven. I think I would then go for the Professional version as it offers a "Win XP mode" which ensures the compatibility with older software as it is a concern for me as well. It would also be an opportunity to try DirectX 10 & 11 games but then I think I'll have to replace my graphics card as well!

WinXP Mode is a separate download,

Gaming is one of many things I do on my PC. My biggest concerns are not games (except MSTS maybe) but a number of older software, incl. 16-bit executables.

ok for the blueprinteditor problem.. i got it solved after numerous emails with rsc support..
1. Open a command prompt and type the following:
sfc /scannow
This will perform a full error scan of the hard drive and report / fix any errors.
If that succeeds ok, then proceed to the next step:
2. Go to your control panel, programs and features, and uninstall the Microsoft .NET Framework versions. Now re-install the installer from our folder again:
Go to this folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\railworks\Install
Now run dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64.exe

Make first to put on seven, which complicate your life with XP.
I (unfortunately) have given the white flag for this.

You need to manually create an empty Temp folder in your Railworks directory. Then close and relaunch TS2014 once. Then Blueprint Editor 2 should work OK from then on.
To explain further, the requirement of running TS2014 once is so that it will create a BlueprintSchema.XML file in the Temp folder. But there seems to be a small bug that if the Temp folder is missing, then the file doesn't get created.

I have tried the above steps on Win-XP (sfc /scannow, uninstall~reinstall .Net, create new Temp folder, and launch TS2014 to create BlueprintSchema.XML) without success. Running Dependency Walker, the following files were not found:
- API-MS-WIN-SECURIY-SDDL-L1-1-0.DLL
- CRYPTSP.DLL
- SSPICLI.DLL
- WERUI.DLL

Are .dll files derived from Vista/W7.
Are available on web, but i do not know if this convene to put on your pc (if you use xp). I don't know...

Pardon the delay in replying.
I'm still using the editors from TS-2013. Emails to RSC go unanswered, so I figured XP users are on their own to deal with the issue.
