Re: Train Simulator 2014 has arrived.......
Hi All,
Does anyone here have the RSC Powerhaul Class 66 v2? If so, could you run a scenario and see of the 'Up/Down' brake handle on the HUD is displayed? Mine shows as a 'Missing Texture' block now. It was OK before TS2014.
I have had a look at the contents of the HUD directory and it seems valid. Cannot see anything obvious in the .bin file either. Bit of a strange one.

Re: Train Simulator 2014 has arrived.......
After receiving confirmation that Raildriver was unaffected I decided to take the plunge into 2014.
The front end menu system looks a bit nicer, but to be honest I couldn't give a monkeys if it was black & white text, it's just a way into the game. Finding the way to the Workshop now seems a bit trickier. There is no obvious route from the main menu and I had to look it up on forums, so for me this part was a backwards step.
Now to the game itself. I've sat back for the last few days watching all the fuss and the claims of graphical improvements but these are all unsubstantiated by RSC or any official declaration other than the vague 'some graphical improvements' so I'd been suspecting a massive dose of placebo effect has been going on, i.e if we tell them it's new and better then they'll believe it really is new and better. This suspicion was also fuelled by no effect on scenarios, Raildriver or anything at all other than TrackIR. On the one hand it's a bonus that nothing is broken in the game but it also makes me think that the reason nothing is broken is because nothing significant has been changed in the game. Every other edition of Railworks has broken Raildriver and all manner of scenarios and routes. Even my saved scenarios from TS2013 loaded up and continued without issue. Great.. but suspiscious!
I'm as susceptible to placebo effect as the next man and the dreamer part of my brain kept trying to tell me that it looked better, however with the above paragraph in mind, I forced my rational brain to really analyse and think about it. Would I put a real cash bet on there being a significant difference? No. Could I confidently declare what, if any, particular visual part was different? No. Could I clearly notice the improved headlight effects? No. Could I clearly notice the improved draw distance? Unsure, I think so and I tried so hard staring deep into the depths of the distance, but I couldn't swear to it! Barring any developer tool changes that I'm unfamiliar with, could it be possible that TS2014 is overwhelmingly mostly just a front end menu change? Most definitely yes.

Re: Train Simulator 2014 has arrived.......
That's really annoying, as the speedup is so useful for testing. It wouldn't be so bad if you would use the playback buttons to a certain point and then drive from there, or start a scenario at a particular time. It wouldn't even be that hard, just have RW save and load a temporary file with scenario starting positions whilst maintaining the original one. It seems at times like they are not bothered about scenario creators though.DavidVI wrote:I emailed RSC..gptech wrote:In all previous versions of the game EnableAsyncKeys was an oddity in that it didn't need a - before the commandDavidVI wrote:Enable Asynckeys seems to not work anymore.
Anyone confirm? I've got it as "EnableAsyncKeys" in my launch options. It worked before the update.
Thanks
Try it with, ( -EnableAsyncKeys) you never know it may have been brought in to line (I'd check but I'm not at a TS enabled PC till tomorrow)
Sad news.
"I am afraid to tell you that this feature was removed from Train
simualtor 2013. These were removed because they were not suitable with
the core game engine. As a result of this they will not be returned to
the game."
.. I used that to speed up testing as using the playback buttons isn't the same. damn
Re: Train Simulator 2014 has arrived.......
EnableAsyncKeys is still working for me from my customised shortcut. I don't use the launch options within steam. I needed to make no alterations at all with respect to this and there is still no preceding -.

Re: Train Simulator 2014 has arrived.......
I have now tested the command from within the launch operations and it still works normally that way too. It may be that you are not leaving a single space before entering the command. While you must not include a "-" you must leave a single space before entering the command.

Seriously guys? I can't get mine to work and the email from RSC makes out that they removed the feature! Sooo that is odd?
Okay I now have a shortcut on my desktop.. this is the target box "G:\Games\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\Common\RailWorks\RailWorks.exe EnableAsyncKeys" correct?

It should be G:\Games\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\Common\RailWorks\RailWorks.exe" EnableAsyncKeys
Note the place of the final "

Re: Train Simulator 2014 has arrived.......
I have but that was in the original; it's just the last one that was out of position.
So "G:\Games\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\Common\RailWorks\RailWorks.exe" EnableAsyncKeys

Re: Train Simulator 2014 has arrived.......
Tried that, ran my activity, pressed CTRL,SHIFT + 5 and nothing.. still doesn't work! Does it really work for you guys? even though RSC said it was removed?
Re: Train Simulator 2014 has arrived.......
Yes it works for me both when using a shortcut and also if using the launch options within steam. It never fails!

So far as I can tell TS2014 amounts to nothing more than a reface of the UI, some yeti-like graphical improvements and the usual clutch of unintended consequences (tunnels and RW Tools this time around). Oh and I should of course mention the medals, if only to save the astroturfers the bother. Its all a bit limp really when compared to the pre-launch hype.
