Great Central Railway V3 Release Thread

Post by nobkins »

It has been a long time in the making but it is definitely worth the wait (and we managed to beat TS2014 release by a few hours!!!).

The route includes the following:
  • Lighting added throughout the whole route (available in TSX mode only)
  • New track - with super-elevation at Kinchley Lane and track unevenness added
  • Improved signalling including the Swithland sidings signals
  • Minor scenery tweaks and improvements
  • Audio functionality added to the trackwork for the new EFX
  • New and authentic fencing added at Leicester North
  • Quorn and Woodhouse turntable added
It can be downloaded from the UKTS File Library once approved or from the excellent Steam Sounds Supreme web site.

Hello.
One question, Jim:
By I can see in the screenshot, the tracks have 3D sleepers. Does not that means lower fps in game?
From personal experience (and of many other users), I can assure you that tracks with 3D sleepers consumes resource intensive.

Regards.
Juan.

I have quite an old PC (at least 4 years and probably 5 years old) and it was only upper mid end when I got it. It runs fine for me but it will be something users have to try and see.

I have used those tracks for my Esthwaite and WIP Dunton route and have never had a problem with FPS, even around Esthwaite docks.
Cheers, Robert :)

Hi, I just tried to install this route and it has informed me I am missing the US Community Asset Pack. I thought these assets were part of the original Railworks and were separated later. Can I ignore and continue the install and if so what would be missing?

All the best, Richard.

Please do ignore it.

TS2014 has re-arranged some of the files and so the US pack is failing to be detected. Just ignore and continue. I will look into fixing the issue.

Thanks

Hi, thanks Nobkins, I ignored it and loaded the route, however I seemed to be missing the point textures and I had no sleepers on any of the tracks. I also had no point levers to change the direction of the points. Any thoughts as to what I might be missing?

All the best, Richard.

That is strange. The pack was tested on a 100% default + the required DLC freshly downloaded from steam. Then the only thing install was the pack and it all worked fine.

If you contact me via PM then I will see what I can work out.

Being a slight tester/editor (I corrected the Swithland sidings signalling/area and added the start of the Mountsorrel Branch) I can say that the 3d track does NOT impinge on performance as many people think it would.

Comparatively, I'd say* it's the equivalent of having 3 "old" style tracks compared to 2 "new" ones. Points are still 2D due to the engine, but when you're out on the open road you don't particularly notice. :D

Richard can you please try removing and then installing the pack again. To remove it just run the installer and choose the remove option. Then run it again to re-install.

Hi, done that but still the same. I will re download and have another go tomorrow. Are you sure it's nothing to do with it not finding the US assets.

I am 95% sure it is not to do with the US assets as you said you had the US assets. I know why it said you did not have them (because the US assets are now packaged as an ".ap" file which the installer does not look for).

The track is custom track installed in it's own folder and is part of the package you downloaded so should be installed.

Quick ? for people who have installed this and testers, I've sent a PM to Matt about it but also wanted to check here.

I've version 2 installed from before and then installed version 3 which Matt sent me via email, the Loughborough station, on the road bridge I want to know weather everyone sees a red sign or is it still a black and white GRAND CENTRAL RAILWAY because at certain camera angles I can see a red sign underneath it which flickers in with grand central railway on and the more official railway symbol the railway has in real life. I don't know if I'm getting some type of confliction between the the two versions or not.
