Bundling the 321 with ECML would be a good business move by RSC, as they can basically give away something that they would otherwise loose sales on, and sell the 365 which is likely to sell well. In some ways it's the best way out for them , as all the work put into the 321 (other than the GA paintjob) isn't wasted, yet they aren't rekeasing a duplicate product on it's own.

I would not pay for the class 365 by RSC as there policy is only one livery nowadays, i like to run routes in different times and would not be willing to payout for 3 items of traction just to get 3 liveries of the 1 product as the class 365 is not a must have train to me as it is restricted to the ECML and i could use freeware class 317 which used to work Peterborough services

It is a refurbished Class 365, totally modified front end, bogies without 3rd rail kit and the pantograph etc.

I suppose for an unrefurbished 365 you could throw the pantograph coach into a 465 formation at a pinch.

Are we sure RSC are doing their own, separate 321, and not just releasing a variant of AP's (like With the Class 90)?

Very sure. The two models looked significantly different.

Not quite, AFAIK there's still no Mk 2e DBSO (or whatever they were called)

The MK2 DBSO's haven't ran on the line for about 10 years as when National Express took over they wanted to use 90 sets with DVT's.

Just because it's been 10 years doesn't mean one won't be made. I'd imagine one will make an appearance in some form for the ECML. A lot of people would be looking to use the route during intercity days and early electrification so a DBSO would be a major part of the route for that period. It's also easier to make for RSC as they have the source models of the default mk2's, so there's little trouble in making a DBSO which doesn't look different when in a rake of coaches.

A couple of points to add, Dec 2006 was the last time a DBSO was used on passenger, but they would be a welcome vehicle as Network Rail has taken a number on for test train usage. RSC have never produced an air-conditioned mk2, so they don't quite have the right source material available. DBSOs would be a useful addition to a backdated version of Edinburgh to Glasgow for the push pull operations
