Re: Armstrong Powerhouse Class 321
Its most certainly eagerly awaited by so many, personally the GEML is not a route i was too familiar with before it was released, but now i've had some experience working with it the 312 will just make it even better.

[quote="GatwickSpotting"]It was mainly to highlight the window weathering, took me quite a long time and still needs tweaking..
All i can say is WOW Jordi, what an amazing piece of work by you both, well worth the wait.

Looks great. Please sir, could you make texture/window weathering tutorial for the rest of payware/freeware developersGatwickSpotting wrote:A link to the preview shot for those that don't use FB: http://i6.minus.com/iSrNjnrhWenBr.png

Re: Armstrong Powerhouse Class 321
It's honestly not hugely difficult. The key is to find ways to build any effect you see, and reference reference reference and more reference. Look at real photos and break everything up into separate 'layers' in your mind. Like there's a bug splatter layer, a dust layer, a dried-rain dirt layer, a wiper swish 'path' layer, and then an internal dust layer. Apply logic to the weathering. Why is it there? Why is there more dirt on X bit than Y bit? How does dirt X affect Y? Hand-painted textures that look photoreal can only be achieved if you recreate whats happened to the surface. There's no simple overlay or texture you can just apply and it magically looks weathered. The other important thing is to make everything interact with the environment around it. The base of a horn lever will have collected dirt over the years as cleaning under it is too difficult/time consuming; the desk and horn lever can be 'joined' by this weathering.SaMa1 wrote:Looks great. Please sir, could you make texture/window weathering tutorial for the rest of payware/freeware developersMaking realistic wear&tear is one of the hardest part in texture making and is very easily overdone. Developers either do that or ignore it alltogether and make everything shine like clean plastic.
While weathering and wear may look random, its always got some 'logic/cause' behind it. For example, hard edges such as the corner of a plastic box, will collect scratches on that edge, more than the flat surfaces of said box. This will cause the edges of the box to pale in colour.
With wear/weathering, its all about the thought process behind it, not so much the skills used to create it in photoshop.

Does this mean the ECML and FCC 321 is likely to be out this week?

Re: Armstrong Powerhouse Class 321
Does the entire RSC office have ADHD? It seems they can't stick with one thing for more than 15 minutes. Even as recent as HS1 we got a new train bundled and another as DLC. Yet with the GEML it would appear RSC have managed to move on without even releasing their own bit of DLC (90 excepted)
If only all problems on the big railway could simply be TAB'd past...
Re: Armstrong Powerhouse Class 321
Maybe theyve decided as AP are doing the GA one to do an FCC one instead? not sure, maybe ECML with 365 will be offered as one price and a few quid extra with a 321 as well, really puzzled......

Re: Armstrong Powerhouse Class 321
AP (thank God) will do much more than just a GA one. That RSC was going to piecemeal their 321 was a given, so this should come as no surprise. They have most likely decided to do a route + stock bundle and will probably release ECML with the 365 and the FCC 321 as an add-on. Then they'll throw in Class 91 as the second bit of full-price DLC. They'll probably release the GA 321 for the GEML sometime thereafter. Thus both GEML and ECML will have two EMUs and one loco each.leesussex wrote:Maybe theyve decided as AP are doing the GA one to do an FCC one instead? not sure, maybe ECML with 365 will be offered as one price and a few quid extra with a 321 as well, really puzzled......

Do you have a link to this official statement by RS.com? Otherwise it is just speculation isn't it...push2play wrote:AP (thank God) will do much more than just a GA one. It's an educated guess based on RSC's prior DLC strategy.thetrainfan wrote: Do you have a link to this official statement by RS.com? Otherwise it is just speculation isn't it...

I am sure the AP one will superceed the RSC one in all ways, liveries, sound and realism.., I agree with what you say think they will go that way with ECML.

If I was RSC, and I saw what I'd be up against with AP releasing a 321, I'd bundle mine with a route, effectively removing the competition. I'd much prefer to have the 365 as a standalone product, with no competitor out there. Just saying...
