Repaints of VR Products

Post by holzroller »

A google translation from a post on railsim.de from Maik G. For those interested in repainting thier models VR have relaxed their policy a little, but the procedure below must be followed. Hopefully we will see some interesting results from this. The translation is as usual not great, but I think that the salient points can be understood. Original post here
http://rail-sim.de/forum/board69-offizi ... ndex6.html

"A possible solution:

To relieve "Story" here Ulf of the repaint, I ask provided repaints of our vehicles, to publish, to send directly to me. I will look into it and build the appropriate Installer. The download will then, if the repaint actually reach the publication, for the time being made available on a subsite of our online shop. We will develop an improved solution, in the near future for the scenarios and other spezifischien products, downloads. Until then it will be a simple list.

When, how and whether published a repaint, we decide it according to certain criteria. These concern mainly the quality (not the artistic aspect but the technical quality) and function technical accuracy. Repaints should be placed in a product at the parent level of the engine (E.g. in Assets\virtualRailroads\vR_BR111_VRot\Elloks\), clean separately. Directory chaos will not be accepted. The installer will then check for presence of the original product, and only then the repaint is installed.

When submitting the repaints please clear statements, meet and share with any specificity. As the subject line for the email is to use "vR Repaintanfrage" and nothing else. Mail will land with wild "spells" in spam. As the file format is to use .rar and .zip. Please no "Monster files" (> 20 mb) send without prior requests.

Assistance and support for the Repainterstellung can not be made. In this regard please send so please also no questions. Repaint-tutorials, there is enough here in wiki or on the net in General.

I hope that satisfies in a certain way. Rejected repaints should be revised instead of here around, to be discussed. We are not mitdistkutieren. Just there's no time for that. Clear line in the trace and nothing else, or work that does not.

The email address to send a (please correctly assemble) repaint (ä t) virtual (minus) railroads (dot) de"

Sorry, this post is going to add nothing to the discussion, but I had to point out the amazing literal german translation...
Directory chaos will not be accepted
Fantastic! Say it in a German accent and it could be a line from 'allo 'allo!

That is why I gave up trying to post in german on rail-sim.de, as much as I admire vR (and back then GR).
I don't speak german and the google translation must have been hilarious!

No need to translate the whole post. The point on that is, you can send in your repaints you wish to be released for our products. And we'll check the quality and build an installer easy to use for our customers. There are a few guidlines: You have to create a new folder besides the engine folder and store all your needed files in that one. Send them in as .rar or .zip with the only accepted mail subject "vR Repaintanfrage" (or in english "vR repaint request"). All other subjects will be filtered out to the spam folder. And you have to know how you create a repaint. We do not spend support on the creation thing. That's all.

I wonder if Ice might decide to do some repaints.
He has done some very good repaints of other models.

Yes, he made some good stuff but he has his own mind. So i don't think so that he want to send in his work because then it is our descision to release or not and he can't decide where or when or if the work will released. So i see no way for that IMO. Typical german stupid things going on with us all :D It's not easy to understand for outside poeple.
