Hagen Seigen v2.2

Post by oldgreyowl »

Can anyone tell me if the update is worth going ahead with? I have downloaded all the necessary files, but I am stumped with the readme pdf because it is in German.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

hi,
once in a while a post comes along where i feel a can correctly contribute.
My advice is a big enthusiastic YES!, it is really worth it.
I did the freeware "original strecke'' upgrade variant just by following each link in german language pdf, not knowing german is not an impediment.
Afterwards the route looks like it has received the Msts DBTrack treatment (gorgeous) and all scenariso so far work, ALL of them!

I'll second Radu's post, definitely a big yes, completely changes the route for the better.

Yes well worth it... And I got it installed by putting the document into Google translate and then reading the not too badly translated text.

Thank you for your encouraging replies, but isnt there a problem with the scenarios. I also have a few additional sets of kit , wont their scenarios be affected as well?

Scenarios don't seem to be affected, and I have plenty from other producers other than RSC.
The creators of H-Sv2.2, in the included PDF also say that ALL scenario should work, it seems the basic structure of the route is unaffected ( that's how i understand it, i am incapable of further technical refinement)

Small question - does this overwrite the Steam version of Hagen - Siegen? Or does it make a copy (with all scenarios) and then enhance that copy?

In other words, what happens if I verify cache?

Cheers,

As far as I am aware it is a clone of the original so a verification won't affect it.

According to the PDF included with the package you have 2 possibilities:

1)Originalstrecke RWP and steam will overwrite at its earliest possibility BUT you will only have one copy of Hagen Siegen

2)Copiestecke RWP and steam will not overwrite it BUT on your RW Installation you will now have two versions of Hagen Siegen the standard one (steam can and will update it :) and the improved one tucked away from steam.

Folks, I've been searching for a little while but can't seem to find this route for download. Can anyone help, please? I've been enjoying German routes and stock recently.

I spent some time this afternoon installing this (based on the comments in this thread) and I have to say it is really good. As mentioned earlier, if you put the readme through Google translator it does make sense and from the 3 scenarios I've tried, I'm very impressed. The other aspect I was surprised about was the frame rate. I normally struggle to get above 24FPS but this route was consistently running between 30 to 50.

The only issue I did have was transferring the scenarios over. I decided to have a separate version so I did a bulk copy/paste of all the original route scenarios. However, when I selected the route none of them appeared. I got round it by deleting the original transfer and just copying one scenario to the new route folder and then editing it in RWTools. I didn't change anything on the scenario, just loaded it and then saved it and the scenario then appeared. I even managed to get a scenario that won't load on the original route to work perfectly on v2.2.

Hi All

I am after a bit of advice please.

I already have the Ruhr Seig Line with numerous Scenarios installed.

Do you recommend I install Version 1 (Originalstrecke.rwp & Gleis.rwp) or Version 2 (Strecenkopie.rwp & Audio.rwp)

The reason I ask is I still want to run the Scenarios on my Rhur Seig Line and if possible also on this updated Hagen Seigen v2.2 version

Regards

HI,
honestly I don't know which would be the best installation (maybe on rail-sim.de you will have a detailed analysis of pros and cons).
I can tell what I did and I have lots and lots of scenarios from different producers: vr, ttb, rsc, freeware etc and all work.
Install the original strecke+gleis+audio and then if you have trouble with a particular scenario re-install it. So far so good for me.

Also be aware that the audio file needs to be installed regardless of the path you choose to upgrade H-S, the audio rwp is not mandatory but it adds general sounds of the immediate surroundings (stations, etc).
