So it was purely a steam update then? I don't think steam itself took that long to install

It wouldn't have if Valve hadn't messed up the script that ran when starting TS2013.Crundles wrote:So it was purely a steam update then? I don't think steam itself took that long to install

My railway photos are now on Google + - links to the albums are in this thread http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 9&t=149558
Lots of steam and early diesels from 1959 to 1963.

Re: Steam Update received on 9/7/2013
I've just tried to run TS2013 and I'm getting a box comes up saying Microsoft Visual C+++ 2010 x86 Redistributable is being repaired. It starts, but then closes then repeats. This has been going on for half an hour or so. Is this what's happening to everyone else?
Cheers
Ken
EDIT - seems to be ok now whatever it was doing. It took about 40 minutes.

Somehow, I've managed to avoid the hassle experienced by others. The Steam client has updated on all 3 of my machines, each with a different OS, without any issues.
Expanding the TS wagon fleet.

I came across this statement on the Rail Sim Facebook page - posted earlier this week
"We have been made aware that some customers may be experiencing issues with the recent Steam client update that is affecting Train Simulator 2013 and other Steam games.
Unfortunately, this is an issue with the Steam client and not Train Simulator directly. We are currently working with Steam to resolve these issues as quickly as possible, and we apologise for any inconvenience this may be causing."

Right, I fixed it myself.Fodda wrote:Just started TS2013 a coup0le of mins ago ad I'm getting the problem. "Performing first time setup... Instaling xxxxxxx (step x of 520)"

This was happening every time I started TS2013 yesterday afternoon. I was getting sick and tired especially as RSC had stated it was fixed. All it took was for me to manually check Steam for updates. The fix update wasn't being applied automatically by Steam for some reason.
Anyone still experiencing the problem just go to the Steam menu in Steam and select "Check for Steam client updates...".
That should hold it.
