David
I should have qualified my remark Downsampling won't work on a "true" 120 Hz monitor - if it works on your Benq then it is probably achieving 120 HZ by interpolation on the "true" 60Hz.

Well Railworks rarely gets upto 120fps for me anyhow. The 120hz monitor isn't really for Railworks.. 30fps is good enough on a Train Sim I believe.

Not sure what you mean by not a true 120hz?

Just would like to say thanks for posting this. Quite happily running 3200 x 1800 and getting average frame rates over 30 and that's with some anti-aliasing and filtering still on. Graphics like sharper than they ever have done, with no flickering of overhead lines, trees etc.

I believe this has made the biggest change in how much I enjoy this sim for ages.

I'm glad it's made a change for you.I'm getting about 30-35 and enjoying the sharpness that iv'e never experienced before.

Hi

I'm not getting any success with this - I've got a GTX 770 and a Dell U2412 Ultra 24". I can set the various resolutions, the tests are successful, but after clicking OK after the test it resorts back to the original settings with a red X next to the custom entry.

My system's only a few weeks' old, so I wonder if it's maybe the Nvidia driver (possibly the infamous recent one?). As things have been running very smoothly so far I'm reluctant to install the new driver just released. I just wondered if anyone could suggest something else to try?

Thanks
Ken

Hi, are you running Rail simulator? I don't have the test sequence with TS2013.

SunDog
I guess that you have set the new down sampled resolution in TS2013 if you leave that at the default then downsampling won't work.
The downsampling won't show in Windows it only applies to applications that you can set the new resolution to ie its specific and needs to be set within a game.
The red cross is "normal".

Hi Peter
Thanks for the reply, and you are quite right - I hadn't followed it right the way through. Doh! I still need to experiment though as TS is sbhh so far. Closer than I was though!

Hi Ken :) .

You might concider doing it the other way around, trying a lower resolution to mantain the highest refresh rate of your monitor. I know it's a stupid off topic comment in a thread about high resolutions, but never the less.
The below pictures were taken in 1440x1080 at 120HZ (made as a custom resolution, which has to be selected in RW/RS2013), and if you can live with the lower resolution, it will improve both the FPS and the image quality. For some strange reason, I have always liked the 4:3 and the 5:4 aspect ratios, maybe a bad habit or a damage from all the years with MSTS, I don't know :).

Hi, I've got to admit that sometimes I regret going to a full HD Monitor when I could have had a 720p Monitor with better frame rates & probably picture too! :(

Looks great! But, I can't seem to make this work as I keep getting this annoying message in the CMD: ERROR: ADL_Display_Mode_TimingOverride_Set <> Failed!

Does this have to do with me using the latest Catalyst drivers? (Yeah, I have a Radeon HD7770)
