Hi everyone,

Just to let you know that for some reason my laptop has decided to start working properly again, so I can play Train Simulator normally. I'm not exactly sure how or why it is suddenly working, and how long it will last, but I'm not complaining! :D

Thanks to everyone for their help and assistance during this problem, especially gptech. I have my fingers crossed that it will not come back and haunt me again like many problems have done in the past :o

Good news!!....though it's slightly worrying that it appears to have fixed itself, as there's no telling when or if it'll go base over apex again. I'd be loathe to suggest delving to try and find what was the cause now--a case of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" but it may be wise to just keep a record of everything you alter or install (including auto updates from Microsoft and other publishers)

Along those lines; there's just been a raft of updates to various flavours of the .NET framework, so if you do have the machine set to auto-update it's certainly possible that one of those has been applied. Don't forget a Microsoft update was implicated in the 'fault' so a 'fix' may have been fixed itself.

No need for special thanks, though I won't deny it's nice to feel valued :) , there are loads of folk in here who'd advise and help (and we all love to pontificate when we get the chance) so it could easily have been someone else.
