There is going to be one finally... That's the point of what I've been failing to say... :fadein:

I think Bob has explained it all now , a updated version is going to be a fixed version and all previous owners will get a free update , many people have not got the original 101 and they will want this.

have they?...or is all we've had a statement that a version of the class 101 DMU will be made available in the near future?

Bob has been hinting, and now more or less confirmed, that a 'fix' will be available for those owning the original model so we should be looking forward to it's release, not ripping it (and the original model which was praised when released) to bits.

Thing I really really would like to see updated is the programme from 32 bit to 64 bit.

Talking to Derek before Christmas, he mentioned that his intention was always to provide some kind of update to the existing 101 pack models because he wasn't satisfied with them as they are at present (hence my earlier 'personal pride' comment).

I don't honestly know which bits he's intending to change - and I would be extremely surprised if they get the full treatment that the new models receive - but there is definitely something planned for them. Without anyone having to pay.

Does that read more clearly? I hope it does, because from where I'm sitting it's actually a piece of good news. :D

Cheers

Bob
Thanks, that certainly clarifies your earlier posts.

And yes, I agree that a re-release of the 101 would be good news, all the more so if there are a few tweaks thrown in for good measure. Alas I suspect that a straightforward re-release would probably rule out any physics changes as these could potentially break existing scenario's but there are community fix's available for those for whom such things really matter.

It does however speak volumes that many people assumed the worst here...

Hang on. Not quite!

As I understand it there is going to be a 'new' model that people can complain about. But at the same sort of time there's also going to be an update to the version you chaps will have bought many moons ago. So it's both...

I reckon Malcolm's 64-bit post has just been thrown in to confuse everyone even more.

In other good news, the nurse has just arrived with my medication. :drinking:

Ah. In that case I'd better get the popcorn in after all...

This is excellent news, the 101 (with community tweaks) remains on of my favourite forms of travel in TS2013land, espescially on the port road! The original model itself is an outstanding peice of work and still stands up to anything coming out today.

It would be nice though if we all had the same versions rather than added confusion every time a scenario becomes available somewhere.

What speaks volumes is a developer/beta tester for RSC is giving officially unofficial release statements about future RSC product on a choo choo train simulator messageboard.. Why in gods name is any of this being said here and not a real outlet? Awful.. It's no wonder no one takes anything RSC does seriously.

Because there are many, many people here who might actually appreciate the news?

As far as I know it's something that Derek has been working on in the little spare time he has in order to provide something nice for the chaps, and the idea was that it would be some pleasant news that folks could look forward to.

Amusingly enough.

Thanks for the post, Bill. I am now able to (finally) go to bed with a huge grin on my face.

So does this mean the original Class 101 is being updated or not?

My understanding after reading all that is:

1. The 101 that was announced on Facebook and is presumably being released soon is a 'new' version - i.e. will install in a new location and will need to be bought at full price whether or not you have the original 101 pack.

2. Derek would like to update the original 101 (at least to remove the glow), but when or if this will happen is unknown. Seemingly the more people complain about the lack of updates for old stock and / or updates being released as new items, the less likely it is to actually happen :-?.

3. The original 101 pack will not be available for sale again - new users will have to get one / both of the new 101s and it will be a pain for those wanting to make / run scenarios, especially on the Steam Workshop, as there will be two incompatible 101 packs containing BR liveries.

Correct me if I am getting this wrong anywhere.

First of all thanks for trying to answer my question.

And in response to the highlighted bit, surely the fact people are complaining, is more of a reason for RSC to update existing DLC and re-release that rather than release everything as new and single livery packs, unless they are purposely trying to alienate people that is.

To be fair, it's just Bob's 'thought', not an official policy:
hertsbob wrote:Controversially I suspect that the more people bang on about it the less likely it is that you'll end up with what you're banging on about. But that's just a personal thought all of my very own. :)
It is a bit catch 22 though - if we complain nothing is released because there's too much complaining, if not then nothing is released because there is no demand :).

Edit: the 'new' 101 is out now on Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/222579/
