I can't belive what I have just done....

I am currently kicking myself, at what I have just managed to do, and was wondering if there is anyway of reversing it. I was just doing some work on my route, and was just about to delete a scenario, and create a new one, but I was not paying proper attention, and I accidentally pressed the 'Delete Route', instead of going to the extra menu, and deleting the scenario instead. Has anyone got any knowledge if it possible to recover a route after doing this. I know I should have made a backup of the route, and I was going to...in about an hour, and I have done about 30 hours worth of work on it since the last backup, and it is something I will not be able to do again. I have kept TS2013 running just in case. Any help will very greatly appreciated.

Check the standard windows Recycle Bin and arrange in date order... You may just find that TS has used the standard Windows delete tool and the folders can be Restored from there.

Use Alt-TAB to do it if you want to keep TS running at the same time.

Bad luck, I think most of us have done this once !, I dont know how RS deletes files but what you dont want to do is record or do anything anything else on the HD, as its possible the file is there just the file table has been erased.
These sort of programmes may be able to help because the run from a USB and you download and save them on a USB too.

The other thing that might work is to go back to the last image "Restore" (depending on the operating system) but I dont know what image keeps an image of (if you know what I mean) everything or just the operating system ?
Good luck.

Right, I'll give the recova software a try, but that is the thing, I've no idea how railworks deletes files...

That's why everyone should make frequent backups. For routes i've made daily backups when i was editing. Not just because of accidental deletion, but because of the instability of the ts2013 editor which can ruin the route files sometimes.

Just tried the Recova software, and it can only find a version from yesterday, that is in very poor condition, because it has been overwritten by loads of Firefox cache files and crash reports.

Too late now, but I suggest you download the following http://members.uktrainsim.com/filelib-i ... leid=29346

This is a Route Backup program I wrote for Railworks and is intended for route authors. It can be setup using the Windows Scheduler to backup your route on a daily or weekly etc. basis without your having to do anything once you have set it up. It places each backup in a separate folder, so new backups don't overwrite older ones and you always have somewhere to go back to.
