A question if I may to anyone who has purchased this DLC.

The MEA and MFA wagons included, are they reworks/reskins of the MeshTools examples?

Which other RSC payware route would someone run it on if they didn't have London to Brighton? And with your reasoning, why then was the 'Fag packet' Great Western HST £2.99 and the Class 67 Jubilee livery locomotive (with coaches) about £4.99. Particularly with the latter that was a train you could run on any route rather than the route specific FCC Class 377. It was a reskin essentially like the others and didn't justify £11.99. How anybody can say otherwise never ceases to amaze me. Like I say, RSC had already set a precedent with reskin pricing so this was an example of going against it. I don't see why this is such a strange and aggravating opinion to you?
You might say well the HST was a default train. Well the Class 67 isn't and wasn't £11.99 for a reskin.
I might also say that RSC can price their products at whatever damn price they want. I'd like my phone to have been cheaper, but because i wanted the features and everything that it had then I dealt with the price. It's the attitude on here that because people don't believe it value for money they slag RSC off. Well Timex make a watch that tells the time for £8 - Cartier make a watch that tells the time for £8000. I don't go running off to Cartier like a little whiny girl complaining about their over priced watch. I just don't buy it. It's the irrelevant venting on here that is really winding me up. The 08 is a good model, it comes in two variants and with 2 varaints of wagon too - so currently they cost £2.25 each whilst on sale. If you don't like the price, don't buy it - but there's in no need for the annoying whining - AND IT IS ANNOYING - I did one of what I was considering to be many reskin/decal projects for the game but in the end this place isn't worth the hassle. The slanging, back biting has driven many contributors away and the stuff I do make is largely for me and a slect few friends that I know in real life - this place is slowing destroying all the benefits of an internet based and wider spread community and knowledge base.

People need to wind their necks in a good deal. Take a read of the code of conduct (specifically section 3) and this thread ==> http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 6&t=130069

It's quite simple really, no amount of ranting and taking chunks out of each other on this forum is going to change the way RSC operates. If you have a comment about their business model etc. then deal with them direct.

Equally, referring to people you don't agree with as "whiny little girls" is hardly constructive either.

Bottom line : either treat each other with respect or the full weight of the code of conduct and the penalties for breaching it will descend on the transgressors.

Now can we return to the subject of the class 08 and leave the 377 and other models to their own threads ?
Kindest regards

I have to say, when I first saw this come out, I was sorely tempted to buy it as I love pottering about a yard. But when I realised that I could just get the whole Woodhead route with a BR 08, my enthusiasm dwindled. Why pay that much when I can pay the price for Woodhead, and get 3 locos, a full route and scenarios for it? Some of you have said that it's probably aimed for new players who don't have the old stuff, but I consider myself new, and even I can tell that it makes much more sense to get the older Woodhead route (and therefore the older 08).

(As an aside; I'm about to buy Woodhead, but not sure if it's worth doing the Steam offer with an additional O4 or B1. Which is the better of the two? It's strange that both locos separately cost the same price, but one twin-pack is more expensive than the other)

I think the main problem that people are beginning to dislike about RSC is that in one way, they are not thinking of their long term customers by re releasing stuff and changing their selling method.

I hear allot of the time "you don't have to buy it" but its like, if you want an 08, you would expect it to be good and worth the money. The recent one released, compared to previous products that the long term customers know and have heard about, is poor value. If RSC made an 08, that will be it. No other third party will challenge it as it wouldn't be as profitable as the other stuff they could work on. I just think if RSC were to make something, it could be something not yet in game that has more than one or two skins. Would be so much profitable for them which is all they look at, that everyone can enjoy.

Now this may seem weird, but its almost like they are making you buy it. Like I really wanted a Networker, when I had heard of it I thought "wow! I hope it's good." when it was released I thought "Well the reviews aren't too good, bad sounds and cab, one skin" but its all there is, so I have to make do with it. Thats my opinion. You may share it or not, but that's that. Enjoy the weather :)

They could be new builds by Derek. I just thought I saw somewhere they were the meshtools ones. But they are pretty good either way.

Pretty sure Derek mentioned to me the other day that he'd enjoyed making them... 8)

I have the 08 pack from a while back and have downloaded reskins on UKTS for the EWS and Freightliner liveries (made by David Hossack) - all works/looks well. Perfectly happy shunting around the yards with them!!

Qs - apart from raindrops and lights (and the wagons), am I missing something by not taking advantage of the current offer for these same two liveries?

Thanks

People need to realise that discussion and critisism, as long as constructive, is good. It not only helps potential buyers make up their mind, but it also can help companies. When it comes to digital purchases like Railsim addons, people have no chance to get the feel of the product themselves before buying, and getting a refund after purchase is pretty much impossible. Having negative opinions may make someone decide to not but something, and save them wasting their money on something they wouldn't be satisfied with. Whilst predictive critisism based on previous experiance can be seen as bad, it can also be useful as those new can also get an idea and be wary and make sure they look into things before purchase. Any attempt to supress critisism is worrying.
As said, companies can benefit from critisism too. It's fine saying "if you don't like it, don't buy it" but that doesn't help the company who looses the sales. If on the other hand people make it clear why they aren't buying the company can decide if they feel it's worth making changes to satisfy customers. People also like companies they feel are listening to their customers.

Well said and I fully agree. The problem with RSC is either they dont listed, or we don't know how to contact them. Their facebook page seems to hasve no ears out to listen. Should we go via e-mail to make our voices heard? I dont know.

Just a heads up for people, I just got the Woodhead Route the other day, and the 08 in that has raindrops and wiper etc, I was under the impression that it was only this new 08 pack that had those?

Its the skins people are concerned about. IF more were offered, it would be so much better. I believe that a freeware team on facebook are doing some BR blue etc skins for the new pack. Its that we shouldn't have to do this really. Its just waiting for a suitable reskin to come around from somewhere.
