In other words you can only look forwards through the little windows and in a hemispherical arc to 180 degrees from facing forwards. This is useless in a shunting engine where going backwards (whichever way IS backwards in one of these) is just as important and common as going forwards.

At least in the original 08s, and in the Woodhead 08 it was possible to turn the view right around and look out of the rear (larger) windows. 99% of the time I use cab view (especially now that we have a TrackIR mod that works nicely) and will be sticking firmly to my Woodhead 08 and my old RSDL Derek 08s.

A crying shame in a shunter pack.

P.S. Using the right arrow view moves you to the right of the cab and also doesn't allow the rear view. As does changing the cab end option.

This after a 10-15 minute look... If he's wrong, please somebody put us right now as my mate isn't impressed either.
I was able to look out of the rear easily on both sides with this addon.

The shunters in the "up the junction" pack had the same issue... Someone must have not calibrated the speedometer when they left the works...

Which of the old ones? Because this will be the third release of this loco :D

The original 08 pack and the Up the junction pack, surely it's just a case of adding the TSX effects, that way the existing owners of those packs get an update and newbies can buy them too, and then everyone should be happy!

PS, Please note I did say 'should be happy'.

Fair enough. Next time I chat with him I'll let him know. Or better yet, tell him (yet again) to join the forum.

Just bought the 08 because I thought £3 for each loco and £3 for wagons I didn't have and rather liked was worth it! And no, I don't buy everything as I still haven't got LtoF, 2MT, WLoS, Maria, and the 465. Would you guys recommend the WLoS and Maria - I know the 2MT is a must have.

WLOS is a brilliant piece of work and if you add Steam Sounds Supreme's Black 5 sound pack you'll have a great deal of fun in prospect. IMO, the default Black 5 sounds are poor but that's about the only thing in the package that isn't top notch. There are a few places - Dumfries shed in particular - where Keith's scenery-building inhibits the frame rate but these areas are short in length and the refresh quickly climbs back.

I think what bites with this (and the Class 101 rerelease too) is not the issue of buying it over again (after all, I've now been given three new versions of what was once "Rail Simulator" so I'm definitely not complaining about that). No, what is upsetting is that I have so many scenarios and Class 08 variants from the original model that I would have preferred paying for an update to the existing one instead of buying a new, single-livery version with a tiny few new scenarios.

This is where JustTrains shines. They forever update their old stock, or where an update is too great (like the Voyager Advanced), they at least offer it at a great discount to existing owners.

I decided to buy this simply because somehow I've managed to never have an 08 anywhere in my collection. I'm not really into shunting, but the activities are surprisingly fun - I think I'm sold on the life of a shunter driver! The reskin tactic with RSC is really awful (I'll never truly forgive them for the FCC 377 debacle) and I feel slightly guilty for buying. But, for somebody who didn't previously have any of the models in the pack, it is great value. And I love the wagons included!

This. I never had the original 08 pack so I wasn't feeling ripped off by buying it. But I do feel guilty for buying it...

You as a customer, or not, make the ultimate choice over what to do, but you can't really slag them off over the FCC 377 if (note 'if') you didn't buy it. It's like me complaining about my council when I didn't turn out for local elections. I'm not going to start having a go at Apple because iTunes and other things have made me not want to buy one of their phones, and I certainly wouldn't go on to their Facebook page with the express intention of doing so either. The polarised opinions on here really have got me confused - if the FCC 377 was just a reskin for say £3, then someone wanting to have an FCC 377 (Armstrong Powerhouse/R Mills version notwithstanding) would have to buy the reskin AND London to Brighton in order to get it - so it costs £27.99 for brand new customers and £3 for people RSC have already had money off. RSC are a business, and like any business if they have any interest in surviving then they have an interest in profit. The staff aren't doing it for a hobby, and they have to pay money to Steam I'd presume, and so all of the costs need to be factored into their business model. They're not as bad as the energy firms hiking up prices whilst selling an essential commodity, they are selling a niche product to a small customer base, who complain, nitpick, snipe bad mouth them and whatever else they see fit online but expect some kind of loyalty bonus at the same time in return for giving RSC their business.

Things will change if the business can't stiff the low sales figures and profits, but as long as it's keeping the business running and enable them to go further afield and make more ambitious projects and add-ons then I'm all for it.

That's my 50 pence worth.

I agree deltic009 but you are wasting your virtual breath it is open season on RSC on here again. I think some think they are a charity or not for profit organisation. I am not overly happy with some of the reskin prices so won't purchase what I can't justify to myself. However they probably need to keep a constant cashflow and new products take longer to produce so reskins I imagine are useful for that purpose!

We will all benefit by continued improvements to the game and funding for new projects.

I don't get the feeling guilty comments if you want it purchase it, if not don't, how much more simple can it be, why the melodrama?!! Rsc aren't the only developer so plenty of choice.

The definition of to forgive is:
Stop feeling angry or resentful toward (someone) for an offense, flaw, or mistake
Where does RSC fit into this, did they force you to purchase something you didn't want?

A confused and bewildered Peter

Sorry, I simply cannot agree. 98% of people interested in buying the FCC 377 would already have had the London to Brighton route and therefore the 377 model which comes with it. Which other RSC payware route would someone run it on if they didn't have London to Brighton? And with your reasoning, why then was the 'Fag packet' Great Western HST £2.99 and the Class 67 Jubilee livery locomotive (with coaches) about £4.99. Particularly with the latter that was a train you could run on any route rather than the route specific FCC Class 377. It was a reskin essentially like the others and didn't justify £11.99. How anybody can say otherwise never ceases to amaze me. Like I say, RSC had already set a precedent with reskin pricing so this was an example of going against it. I don't see why this is such a strange and aggravating opinion to you?

You might say well the HST was a default train. Well the Class 67 isn't and wasn't £11.99 for a reskin.
