Headphones Sound Tuning

Has anyone got any advice on getting good sound for TS2013 from headphones.....

I generally use my 5.1 surround which is excellent I get the heavy trundle through the subwoofer and all the steam sounds are soft. To clearly hear all the clanking the volume has to be further up and steam sounds are too loud. All this disturbs everyone else...so headphones....

I have 2 quality pairs, Senheiser for games and Sony for music.

But I cannot achieve that quality heavy trundling noise and, meanwhile, the steam safety valve (white noise) sounds hurt the ears on a long run. I have tried many different Graphic Equalizer settings but still cannot match the 5.1

Any good solutions?

It is almost certainly not something that you can adjust on the mixer end of your sound system. RW sounds are spilt in the user interface a little ( see OPTIONS) but really only between loco and environment.

The relative volumes of different loco sounds for different bits of a loco are set in their respective .proxybin files. It is quite a simple job to edit them and one of the best ways to learn about those files. But it is a bit tedious and you will find that many engines refer to common sound file set ups anyway. Many types of 3rd party locos use default sound file set ups for instance.

It might be possible to use a grphic equilizer on your sound card ( most have them as software ) to take off some of the hurty high frequency but that will probably also trash the livliness of other sounds.

Writing sound files that sound right to me the originator depends on you the user having a sound card that sounds a bit like mine. Complete nightmare !!

I've found that if I plug headphones directly into the headphones socket on by PC case I get some strange positional effects that don't occurs through listening to the speakers. I thus now use my headphones via a socket in my speakers wired remote and all is fine.

Yes, I already tried both the sound card socket and the 5.1 output socket (which is better) bet still no match for the surround speakers themselves.
