Unable to create scenarios for Woodhead Route
Posted: Sun Apr 07, 2013 1:08 pm
I decided that I would try and get back into scenario creation after a year or so of just playing default or add-on scenarios.
I successfully created a scenario for the RSC Settle to Carlisle route yesterday. Well it did not quite go as planned but it did work.
I decided that I wanted to create some for the Wonderful Woodhead route, as it is one of my favourites.
I went into the editor and put in a player train and two A1 trains, all at the Sheffield end. I then went to put in a light engine (the DT class 40) and I got a crash to desktop and a message saying something about a Vortex Buffer I think, I cannot remember exactly. The program had not closed just minimised so I clicked on it on the tool bar and got the dreaded something bad has happened. I tried going back in via edit scenario mode and drive a scenario mode and just get SBHH everytime.
I then tried to create another scenario at the Sheffield end and put in the player train, this time with the class 40, I clicked on play to see if it worked and got a SBHH again! Again I cannot now edit or play this scenario.
I can play any of the default or add-on scenarios for Woodhead so it is obviously not the route itself!
I wonder if it could be a graphics problem as I don't have the most powerful computer. I am going to try turning all the settings to minimum to see if that works. As I said I managed to create a scenario for the S and C and have created scenarios for other routes in the past!
I have recently re-installed Railworks so it just has the basic game and all my payware items, I have not yet got round to installing any freeware.
My specs are:
Pentium D 3.40 GHz
2GB Ram
NVidia G Force GTS450 1,024MB
It has onboard Sound
I can play the route with graphic details on 10 and most other items (shadows etc) on low or off without any problems and with decent framerates, around the 20-25 mark, sometimes dropping to 14-15 in high detail areas, which is fine for me.
I realise it is an ancient machine but is going to have to do until later in the year as I do not have the funds to upgrade as they are taken up by restoring an Austin Maxi, soon to be two!
If anyone has any suggestions they would be gratefully appreciated?
Thanks,
Peter
