We have January sales starting in December these days; although you could be forgiven for thinking they start in November due to the unfortunate influence of the USA.
Easter itself is a week off; so if there was to be an "Easter sale" surely it would happen between 29/03/13 and 01/04/13 this year?

Re: Train Simulator Easter sale?
Although I'm one of those in regular full time employment I am now myself having to prioritise (not having a pay rise for 4yrs whilst everything goes up don't help matters) I am myself reliant on sales nowadays - I can't justify going out spending £25 on a route knowing within a few weeks/months I can get said route for at least 50% off.ka959 wrote:. What do others think about routes, and current prices ?
I'm a few years away from pension myself - looking forward to the freetime, but not the struggle for the old spondoolies.....

I'm too finding I have to prioritise - Regular employment in a professional role so its not like i'm on the breadline.I think everything is very expensive - but its a captive market and I don't think there is much room for manouver - its not like there is the quality freeware these days to replace, supliment or keep the payware competitive.scorpion71 wrote:Although I'm one of those in regular full time employment I am now myself having to prioritise (not having a pay rise for 4yrs whilst everything goes up don't help matters) I am myself reliant on sales nowadays - I can't justify going out spending £25 on a route knowing within a few weeks/months I can get said route for at least 50% off.ka959 wrote:. With so much good stuff coming out in terms of my interest area - steam - in the last few weeks I just can't justify the cost - and for what you are getting some does appear over priced to me..
I appreciate the time, effort and resource that has to go into producing these routes and locos, I've done a bit of "mod" development in sim racing 5 or 6 years ago (and the poly counts and lighting effects are now way more advanced and complex) so I understand what is required ... however there is a but..
I'm not going to go into specifics but 2 new steam/preserved routes with no new stock RRP 20 and 25 respectively.
New Loco's - JT who insists of supplimenting the realease with overpriced skin packs and for 2 of its products these are almost the same price as the default locomotive for what would be fairly quick and easy changes as far as i can see (please dont shoot me down for that one - I dont agree with this policy at all)
another who releases top quality stuff, imho the best quality, but with no scenarios - i.e paying £12-25 for something with little or no scope for use and we are banned from talking about.
DT - strike the balance between release/scenarios well.
I think there could be much more collaberation in terms of the community (like back in the MSTS days) to schedule releases and in terms of who is building what...
I also rely on the sales to get the stock needed for scenarios - I cant justify paying full price for something I need for a few scenarios.

Very true about the excellent freeware routes out there.
I'm particularly looking forward to TPR (awaiting the day it arrives at Lime St
) & Great Eastern
