it was bound to win as there was no other decent competition within that category. This was the Game Industry News competition anyway, if it had been expanded to include the likes of EuroTruck Simulator 2, that would have wiped the floor against any other Simulator, and has done for the last 6 months, so, not much to crow about really, but, RSC will advertise this to the hilt, I'm sure.

Its obvious that not enough people voted for Eurotruck Simulator 2 too make the top 5. I see Far Cry 3 in the nominations and it is less than 6 months old.

It's really kind of embarrassing how much I enjoy ETS2.

I downloaded the ETS2 demo but was quite disappointed with it to be honest. It could be a great sim but there are lots of little bugs that ruin the experience such as the AI traffic nearly always slamming the brakes on halfway up the on-ramps and then merging onto the carriageway at 20mph, speed cameras repeatedly flashing you when you're at a stable 55mph in a 60 zone, uninspiring sound, vastly inaccurate road layouts when you're driving in a place you know, unrealistic bends, bland scenery. I was hoping the city centres would be at least vaguely modelled but it's just a freight terminal and industrial park or two and a couple of distant landmarks.
It's a shame really. I might get it during the next sale but I'm certainly not convinced to pay full price.
220,000 miles clocked up since I passed my test (including many thousands in France, the land of oblivious drivers) and not one notable incident. At least the demo will allow me to bring my truck-driving into line with my car-driving. ..

Interesting - is there an Ice Road Truckers scenario? Fozen lakes, white-outs and avalanches, that sort of thing?
regards Ted.

JB, do you have the patch installed? I don't have any AI trouble but I've played ETS2 for the first time with all patches up to date (I think it was a fix for that in one of the patches). As for speeding I've not had that much apart from accidentally speeding in a city, but I do try to adhere to the different European limits. IIRC on a 60mph road trucks must not exceed 40mph on a single lane carriageway in Germany (been a while since I used ETS2).
If I had my way, I'd vote BVE for the realistic driving simulation especially as all aspects are considered (TPWS override, DSD, DRA, different stopping positions, random TSR's for some routes etc)

Ted, if you want a truck driving simulation experience of driving on ice then you want to obtain 18 Wheels of Steel - Extreme Trucker, featuring from Alaska, ice roads and frozen lakes that creak and groan when you drive over the them, have a look on Amazon, you may find a cheap copy from somewhere.
@ JB
If you have the patch, then the new enginesound for the Volvo FH16 is pretty good, better than the default ones.

That's pretty much sums up the drivers in my town!

It happens in every time since 3-4 years

Always TS2013 is the only "racer". TS2013 is like Eric Moussambani

Same here really. You would've thought I was sick of driving wagons when I get home from work

it's a bit like here in New Zealand, everyone goes on about how the All Blacks are the best rugby team in the world....... But it's easy to be the world's best when there is little competition.

After last weekends (deserved) humbling by Wales, as an Englishman I can't argue with that.....
