Don't worry, you're not missing much A4's are very dull, Sutherland would have been a much better 'show'

To be fair to you, Sutherland is hellfire... One of my favourite survivors...

Not to cause a regional war, but the LNER A4s were built to look elegant and fast with the streamlining and weren't particularly wanting to display the image of hellfire and "dirty" steam engine which people were being twisted towards in opinion in the mid years of steam. Granted the LMS brutes were a sight to behold on the mainline and especially when they are slogging it or at speed but after the steamlining was removed from the Duchies they were pretty much just a huge stonking loco with a blackhole for a firebox

Agree with this I think the A4's are extremely elegant and one of the best looking steamers, I personally think the streamlining on the Dutchess was actually a bit ugly and much prefer them without!

Flaming the regional war further, I still think there is nothing more elegant than a GWR 4-6-0 however

I think it could be a tricky one to get the paint job right on Mallard. it could be very very good or very very wrong. In its polished clean state under lights it looks quite different outside. Not sure about this hehehe.

The main thing i'll be interested to see will be how many loco's we will get,just Mallard or a few others?

In the past it's been just the one....4472 and 60163 for instance.

My hope would be that it will be a period loco, LNER or BR, with a large number of the class represented, and not a preserved version.
Also I get the impression that the JT A4 doesn't allow repaints, one of the reasons I haven't bought it, is that the case?
But that shouldn't be a problem for a RSC example one would hope.

Personally, I would prefer them to add a wheel an make it a P2

That's because all the liveries are covered, which is a big + for JT.

But don't you need to buy three packs to get all those liveries? a big plus for JT as you say. Another reason I have never bought any of them.

So far the RSC version is looking good to me.

I think it would be very difficult to reskin a JT A$ as the nameplate is build into the loco, its not just a texture file.

Perhaps it could be done but I would have no idea how to make a new nameplate.

But it is not just RSC. I am a huge fan of Just Trains products but I am not too keen on their pricing structure.

The basic A4 which I have is £14.99 for five examples, the BR Pack (which I really want) is £10.20 for I think ten examples and the LNER pack is another £10.20 for fourteen examples. If I wanted them all I would pay £35 not withstanding any points off or sales. The Manor is not so bad as both packs come to £20 the extra pack being only £5.

This is not a criticism of the product in anyway as I think Just Trains products are superb and will continue purchasing them but I do think the expense adds up when you start adding in the extra packs.

All these duplicates make it difficult to decide whether to get them or not and consequently use them in scenarios, when we already have a decent A4. But hey. :p
