Verification of game files will do the trick.
Steam library - right-click on TS2013 - Properties - Local Files tab - Verify Integrity of Game Files.
I did a verification of game files last night but still no couplings. I run the game with tsx mode off but I turned it on just to see if it made any difference but it did not. Its very strange no one else is having this issue. :-?

Sometimes it is necessary to do a verification of cache more than once as it doesn't always work.

Thanks for the info re: 1938 run. There's a good article on it in the new Railway Magazine that landed in my postbox yesterday. Well worth a read.

Just hit 230kph on the LAV Madrid-Valencia route with Bittern and 7 Mk1's and I hereby claim the official TS2013 World Speed Record for steam.

Cheers

142mph? Fantastic! I would never have been able to achieve that speed.

Unfortunately, someone on FB achieved 146mph. Speculation is going on as to whether the coaches were uncoupled or not. Quite an original way of doing the speed trial.

I'm seeing lots of 'official' pics of the speed test with people managing 146mph.... complete with evidence of the coaches still attached plus instructions on how to get that speed yourself (water/fire levels and cut-off positions)

It's all the proof you need that RSC have fudged the physics deliberately to make this 'game' scenario... i highly doubt an A4 could get anywhere near that speed with fully loaded coaches on the Lon-Bri route in reality

I was thinking about a double header...

Although TBH, the last few pages (re the physics) has me wondering whether to purchase or not :( Was planning on making a decision this evening, before the price changes.

Also don't have L-B, so the bizarre route choice doesn't really help me at all.

Or maybe the coaches have been messed with, to make them deliberately lightweight. Having tried the A4 with a rake of DT Mk1s, it seems perfectly realistic.

You can get the Madrid-Valencia route for free here:
http://www.railsim.es/index_login.asp

Plonk an ICE 3 at one end of it and you've got over 300km @ 300kph.

Or use an RSC A4 which isn't much slower!!! The physics are indeed completely absurd.

This is stupidly and wildly over the top and bears no relation to reality.
To that specific point: in fact, on Wikipedia figures, an A4 has pretty much the same tractive effort as a pair of HST power cars (A4: 35455 lbf; HST: 2x17980 starting = 35960). With tender, it also weighs about the same as the pair; so an A4+8 should accelerate from rest at a very similar pace to an HST.

Of course, once you get to higher speeds, the Class 43s will far exceed an A4's 1800 dbhp as quoted above, and the top speeds being achieved are clearly fantastical...
