Is Totham worth it at 1/2 price?
JT newsletter has a 1/2 price code in it valid until March 17th.
I don't normally play fictional routes.
Any good or should I save my money and put it towards Western Lines of Scotland?

I think the route is fantastic and does have a lot of oppertunties for scenarios as well.
I have at least one up for it and a few others in a current mothballed stage sadly.
Comes down to what you prefer Modernish period with OHL and Diesel lines or 1960's steam based route.

Anyone want to help in Play Testing future Rising Storm/ Ro2 Maps? If so please PM me.

interesting route, lots to do - freight, slow pax, everything, lots of junction (some are actually named which is a nice touch)
easily worth the price

Like you we saw this reduced in price, and decided to give it a go. Like it very much indeed, it is quite intricate in it's own way and has a lot of potential for some very interesting scenarios for both freight and passenger.
It also has the advantage of being a bit timeless, certainly good for just about anytime during the last 25 years or so. We've just written a new scenario for it
(a Jolly Fisherman Tribute), although stretching it a bit at 1983, this should be available this weekend, so that's at least one more for it.
If you have to make a choice between this and the new Western lines of Scotland, then your choice will depend on the era you prefer as well, but at this really cheap price we'd say try to get both if possible. Would also add that Totham is not too demanding on our system, so that's a bonus as well.

This was built by Darren Porter, of Bristol - Exeter, Newc - York modern, and Cresston, fame, so, it'll be a goodie, although, for me personally it was a bit too small for my liking and you originally had to buy it with the Class 153, which I now have anyway, but, don't let me sway your decision, and it is ONLY £7.49......

It is a decent route but I rarely use it myself. The 153 is handy though

Re: Is Totham worth it at 1/2 price?
Totham is largely based on real locations - Toton in the East Midlands to the west of the map, and then the Southampton area to the east of the map, and as mentioned was developed for Just Trains by Darren with the idea for the use 'Toton' from Darren and of 'Southampton' by myself and hence the route of Totham was created using the best of both areas. This gives it a very realistic feel throughout as the track layouts and scenics are based on those locations, and anyone who knows those areas will see the similarities, even down to the feel of the stations, docks, and areas that are very close matches for their real-life counterparts - all with a sprinkling of artistic licence to make it the popular route that has thankfully become - certainly I had no idea that a fictional route would ever be so well received, although I'm hugely glad that it has been as it seems people really get the idea of what we set out to achieve.
The route was designed to be the sort of route that you could drive just about anything on - Steam specials, diesel, or overhead electric trains - making it ideal for almost all of our Just Trains add-ons, and of course others that you've got in your collection. You've got coal powerstations for merry-go-round trips, docks, container cranes, a postal depot, large diesel stabling depot, freight sidings, fly-overs, and a mix of high-speed and lower speed sections. So if you've got the 153 or another small DMU/EMU unit you can drive an intensive passenger service, or could drive something more express style like a Voyager calling at the more major stations. If you prefer freight then up and down the route covering the entire network in the Class 67 or 20 with the RHTT wagons spraying away, or taking the FNA Nuclear Flask wagons to the nuclear powerstation. The car carriers from our Class 67 Advanced pack can be shunted in to place at the car terminal similar to the real life one at Millbrook near Southampton, or almost anything you can think of - maybe a delivery of modern EMU's to the traincare depot to the west of Totham itself?
It has been very much designed as a route for scenarios, offering a huge amount of possibilities without being restricted by real-world lack of things to do (sure we've all driven real routes where it feels like it'd be great to have a few extra sidings or industrial areas, to really give you more to do!), so you've got plenty of stations ranging from those out in the countryside to the densely packed built-up/urban area towards the west of the map where the stations are much closer together.
Totham has always been available as a separate download, as has the Class 153, and they are both available in a combined Totham and Class 153 pack.
Hope that background info helps!

Living just to the West of Southampton can vouch for the familiarity of parts of the route,

Can you check your spam or junkmail folder, just in case it went there? The email was sent out on Thursday afternoon.peteskink wrote:I like the sound of this deal - I'm sure I signed up for the newsletter, but I haven't seen it yet.
If you've still not got it, could you send me a PM with the email address that you think you are subscribed with, and I'll get your newsletter subscription status checked for you.
Thanks,
Simon

Thanks Simon,
Nothing in my spam or main folder. As far as I'm aware I thought I was registered for the newsletter and I re-entered my email address yesterday on the Just Trains site.
I'm unable to send PMs at the moment - I've asked for this to be reviewed.

Is there any track map available for Totham?
