i had purchased railworks when it first came out (when it was in the big cardboard sleeve with a picture of a steam train on the sunset background) and this recently got updated to train simulator 2013 via steam
i have a few questions which may sound dumb sorry if they do
1. Is it actually train simulator 2013 i have or is it still rail-works???
2. can i purchase both add ons for rail-works and train simulator and will they work on my main program that i have
3. is it possible to edit which train you drive on a scenario like you could do in the original microsoft train simulator and if so how can you do that
many thanks

Re: train sumulator questions
It is. The core program will have been updated but your set-up will differ from one bought after TS013 was introduced. The old default routes are no longer included and different ones have replaced them.rosschris10 wrote:1. Is it actually train simulator 2013 i have or is it still rail-works???
By and large, the answer is yes. If the model has not been updated then you won't get the effects of raindrops on the windscreen, for example, but it should work. In a few cases things don't work well but a way that may work is to turn of TSX in the Games Settings dialogue.2. can i purchase both add ons for rail-works and train simulator and will they work on my main program that i have

Re: train sumulator questions
1) Train Simulator 2013 equals Railworks 4. It is one and the same. Only the naming changed gradually.
2) The add-ons available on Steam are expected to work with TS2013=RW4. Add-on producers outside Steam generally provide updates as required. Basically, older stuff is expected to work but there are new features to benefit and there is the odd glitch here and there. But in general, there is no real problem.
3) This is not so easy. On answer would be the new Quick Drive feature (just search for this term here or anywhere to find more information on that).
The other answer is RW_Tools which lets you swap stock in existing scenarios. There is a subforum on this programme here.
You can always fire up the Scenario Editor and change anything, but deleting the engine deletes all the orders for that train which can be numerous. This is where RW_Tools comes in handy. But for further developing the given freeroam scenarios, all you need is the game itself and its Scenario Editor.
