Re: Cambridgeshire Lines
Let me know how you do - have swapped it out and will have to start the scenario again when i get chance to test the theory.
Re: Cambridgeshire Lines
No, nothing I try makes any difference and after saving any changes with RW Tools the scenario won't load at all now.
Nvm I had fun with the other ones and swapped a Black5 for the Robinson 04 which worked well.

Folks
I've heard from another user that there may be a solid fix for this - if that's ok for me then I'll punt it round to some of you who've had the problem to see if it fixes it for you.
However at the moment - "this scenario is dead, passed-on and gone to meet it's maker" - though I suspect it would SBHH before it got to Him !
Cheers
Neil

Re: Cambridgeshire Lines
Interested to hear Neil.
The kuju folder size is definitely an issue. I think we may need Train Store for RW.
CKPR works fine for me but had 1 report of similar issues to this. Don't panic, there's things I can do in v2

Re: Cambridgeshire Lines
Well, I've installed the route and all the accompanying assets were nicely packed, I didn't have to search for a thing, so, well done on that score, I enjoyed reading the manual that you've put together, very professionally done, I must say, and it gives you a lot of information of the locality and regarding the types of freight trains that we can run on the route for the period you've created it for, so, personally, another well done from me being a freight train nutcase......
I had a little trip down from St Ives to Cambridge and it's typically Fenland country, a few trees dotted around, lots of dykes, plenty of grasses and I'm sure the waterways gave you a lot of hard work, the texturing, particularly on the lofts, is quite excellent, and overall it's a fabulous recreation of Cambridgeshire in the time period specified.
My only problem came when I arrived in Cambridge as my PC spluttered a bit, and after checking, it showed over 2030 assets on one tile, so, I'm unsure if anything can be done for the low-end laptop users in that region, a bit of asset pruning may be required for those whose machines might not be able to cope.
Anyway, Neil and Ruth, and everyone else involved, congratulations on a brilliant effort all round, I'll certainly pop a few screenies up when I've explored everywhere else on the current map, many thanks for offering this to us freely after such a long time in the making and we look forward to your endeavours with the layout completion in the future.
Cheerz. Transport Steve.
EDIT: I noticed in the UKTS library a couple of scenery items that have been uploaded, some British Army vehicles from the 1960's, that may not look too out of place within the military installations you have included, just a thought.......

Re: Cambridgeshire Lines
Mike
It was a military supply depot established between Chesterton junction and Histon (in the war I think) - later used for the storage and distribution of military supplies via rail. In our era it was already run down and I think it closed in the late 50's or ealry 60s. Ruth will have more details if you are interested (there was a bit of info in the recent GERS mag I think but I don't have it to hand).
I'd hazard that the initials have 'transport' and 'supply' in them somewhere !

Re: Cambridgeshire Lines
Not sure what the TSS stood for, Mike, but this was a US Army Dep-ot - Histon Deepot to them but Milton Deppo as far as the railway was concerned (presumably to avoid confusion with Histon itself).nike wass wrote:Any body help, what is Histon TSSD?

I sent you an e-mail Neil. All worked well with the fix. Hope it works for others.
The crowded yard at Cambridge looks fantastic but might cause some people problems.

Re: Cambridgeshire Lines
Have sent an e mail to say patch works for me also even without using a new stripped out Kuju folder.

I've just posted a fix for the Coals scenario - hopefully it will work for most people ('m reconciled to the fact that nothing is going to work for everyone
Hope people enjoy it.
More scenarios on the way soon(ish).

Re: Cambridgeshire Lines
Hi Ruth and Neil, thank you for a great route, it installed and loaded with no problems, if it is OK by both of you, I would like to have a go at some scenarios, a couple of queries, are you going to add anymore portals, I find they make it a lot easier to compose scenarios and is the present track work going to be altered at all....? The route has brought back many memories to me, I was stationed at RAF Lords Bridge for a short period in the late 1940's and at RAF Ridgewell near to Great Yealdom railway station in the 1950's, where we were shipping out daily wagon loads of bombs for dumping into the Irish Sea. At the time I was living out in Haverhill, in the winter months I used to catch an early morning train to Great Yealdom station, it was mostly E4's on that turn and I had many a footplate ride on them, one side of you freezing the other lovely and warm..... sorry about the blathers, again a great route.
Regards.

One of my sources said:cunningn wrote:Ruth will have more details if you are interested (there was a bit of info in the recent GERS mag I think but I don't have it to hand).
Another said:This would be the WD’s TSSD Milton Ordnance Depot east of Histon station (TL 463616), being an Army Technical Stores Sub-Depot. It was established in 1943 and operated by the USATC until 1945 – initially using a ‘USA’ 0-6-0T. It continued in use by the WD until closed in 1959, with a total of four ‘Austerity’ 0-6-0ST’s over the period. There was a fan of six sidings and a marshalling yard – operated by a ground frame under the control of Chesterton Junc signal box. The track was removed 9/1959.
The only public map I've ever seen of it was dated 1959 - not coincidentally the date the place was removed - and I mean that literally: during the summer it was there, by the winter it was all gone.In 1953 I was doing my National Service in Royal Engineers Movement
Control, and just before the Queen's Coronation I was detached from my
unit in Liverpool (where we dealt with troopships) to RTO Cambridge to
deal with air freight coming into Stansted. I did visit the RTO
offices, which I think must have been in the army camp you are referring
to. I am pretty sure we went up Milton Road to get there. However,
most of the time I was going along the A11 in a Bedford QL to and from
Stansted. I was only in Cambridge for 6 weeks until the air freight
from the Canal Zone had finished, and then I returned to Liverpool.
Although it probably was an Ordnance depot it seemed pretty run down,
and provided accommodation for other things such as the RTO.
Should anyone have or know of any more information about it I would be very grateful to know it.
Regards
Ruth

Re: Cambridgeshire Lines
Hi pdee, thanks for the comments, I am glad you are enjoying the route.
I don't think we are planning much change to the track that is there, though Neil has been doing updates to make things more efficient and improve the signalling. Areas that are more likely to see change are Shelford and points South, Newmarket and points East, and Huntingdon. I am hoping at some point to link Newmarket and Ely, but this will need to wait till Newmarket itself is more populated. I think Neil has plans for points west of Lords Bridge, too.
I believe both of us are very happy for people to make scenarios for the route. Please use the "See Also" link when you upload to point back to the route files.
I expect that some more portals could be arranged
Please let us know where you think they would be helpful... I am sure we don't want to add 20-odd on the off-chance...
No problem about reminiscing.. it is nice to hear some of the real-life stories behind things. I don't suppose you know of the GERS?
Best regards
Ruth
