My occlusion mods

Post by Fodda »

All:

I've updated the WCML-North occlusion mod. Now it has all the best light levels, all bridges INCLUDING footbridges this time and the underground station lights have been fixed. Plus I've played with a few lights to stop under-bridge and tunnel glow effects.

So this means that as far as I'm concerned these four route mods are now finished. If anyone finds a particularly annoying problem or mistake, please let me know so that I can attempt to fix it.

You should be running v1.10 of Isle of Wight, London to Brighton and WCML-N, and you should be running v1.20 of Woodhead. If in doubt check the readme that comes in each download.

A bit of a break for me now, and then I'll jump on some more routes.

Yes, thanks for all your efforts Gary - they make a real difference in providing a sense of realism when passing through tunnels or under bridges that always ruined the suspension of disbelief for me. :)

Cheers

Actually, have you tried it using the second man's window view? Seriously spooky with the combination of the new tunnel sounds and Gary's occlusions, and damned scary when an opposite running service is headed towards you in the tunnel... :o I usually engage this view before entering tunnels now.

Thank you Fodda for these, they really improve the routes when driving. :D

Is anybody going to have a go at improving the sound when going under small bridges & cuttings?

Looking forward to trying WCML-N, now that my internet connection is back up to a decent speed.

Thanks for the huge amount of effort you've put into this!

Thanks for your hard work Fodda, it really does make a big difference to the routes with this added, I wonder why they have not been upgraded officially?

Thanks all.

Jason: It takes a fair bit of work to do this, I imagine RSc have more important things to do than add occlusion objects in pre-made routes.

All:

Having played the first five minutes of one of Rosgar's excellent scenarios I decided that the Port Road route didn't look anywhere near as good without bridge occlusions. So I knocked 'em all up this afternoon. No tunnels to worry about, just bridges and sheds (and canopies at Dumfries) so it was fairly easy.

I'll sort out a readme and screenshot and then get it uploaded.

*EDIT* Oh well, perhaps not then. The scenery files are Protected so I can't pack them up using the Packager. I think it means I'm not supposed to upload them either.

The port road is a free route so I do not think there would be any more restrictions over the other content you have uploaded.

If you look in the Railworks\PackageInfo folder for a file called "The Port Road.pi".

Move it to your desktop (or somewhere else for safe keeping) and the files will no longer be protected.

Hi Fodda,

Just wanted to say thanks once again for all your hard work. Using a lot of the info you supplied in the other related thread I have created a set of my own tunnel occlusions defaulting to the alphas' you suggest and the "ramp" values also. I have also changed it so that the green arrows which are so hard to select have been replaced with the marker I use for RWDecal (I very big flag with a circular "here I am" target).

It is now very easy to select and adjust the occlusion after it is placed even when surrounded by other assets.

I am using them on TPR.

If it was not for your hard work I would not be where I am now (sounds like a line from Reggie Perrin!)

Cheers

Thanks so much for this!!

A question though.. Could you possibly do this for Edinburgh To Glasgow? I know it already has them but for some reason theres one tunnel that doesn't.. The one near Falkirk High..

Cheers :D
