I too have these files, but every time I try to clear the cache in game, I get the following message, 'Failed to start game' (Application already running)?
I did a verify and it downloaded 98.7KB. The game seems to run fine but I cannot/won't let me clear out the cache, is this right? I have logged in and out of Steam, re started pc, rried off line then back on line and still the same?

I am sure that you will find that the blueprint cache has been cleared - check to see if there are any Blueprints.pak files left in your Assets folder. What is happening is that Railworks.exe is still running when the script attempts to start it running again - and that isn't allowed, only one copy can run. Just leave it a short time, and start TS2013 again by right-clicking on the Steam taskbar icon.

If you want to to see if any program is running, start the Windows Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-DEL and click on Task Manager is the quickest way) and look for the filename on the processes tab - for TS2013 look for Railworks.exe.

If you want to create your own batch file to clear the blueprint cache, just copy the following lines, and paste them into a file in a text editor - Notepad will do:

del /s Blueprints.pak
pause

Save the file in the Railworks/Assets folder as a batch file with a sensible name - ClearCache.bat should do. Then create a shortcut to this file on your desktop. When you double-click the desktop icon, a command prompt window will open, and this will list the files as they are deleted. When it finishes, press the space bar, and the window will close. Job done.

Thanks for the info Alan, that must be so as the game runs ok apart from the clear cache. All the best.

You don't!!!!

The only indication is the change in the file mentioned several times in this thread and watching Steams progress bar go across and the little message box pop-up in the bottom right hand corner of your monitor screen saying it is done. Nothing else, the version number of TS2013 stays the same (v27.5a for info.) but I still can't work out why RSC said it would take such a time for such a small file update. Ho Hum!!

Kind regards James.
Hi James
It looks like the process has already taken place, as the files I've highlighted are the ones that Steam replaces on your system for the old ones named *.ncf, which are no longer there by the looks of it.
If there's anything else Steam needs to do, I'd let it take it's course in good time.

Should there be two files begining "appmanifest" in the Steamapps folder 'cos I haven't and the Sim works for me?!

One file for each Steam game that has converted to Steampipe, I assume - if you only have one game, you will only have one file (24010).

The stock packs don't over-write any default files so there should be no need.

This steampipe business is driving me nuts, I think I might need to go for a steamclean . I have these three new files so I think I'll just leaveit at that now and wait and see. updated or not ?

Thanks Alan - as I only have RS then that is the reason. just wondered if that was the cause of the problems but obviously not

Well, after starting and restarting Steam and TS2013 more than several times, I still have no appmanifest_24010.acf (although I have many others from other Steam games) and no updated files or folders. Not sure why. I'm not going to verify cache though just to get this update.

Just received this from RSC.

Dear James

Thank you for contacting the Railsimulator.com customer support, your inquiry has been logged with a member of our dedicated customer support team.

We are aware of an instance whereby the Steam client does not notify you about the change over. This appears to happen when the user already has a game or games that use the system.

The unable to launch error is due to the Steam Client trying to launch the game before it has actually completely closed from the previous session. At this time simply click play in the steam client to re-open the game.

I only have one game on Steam  As they are aware of the problem then why has the problem only occurred for a small number of people and are they going to fix it :-?
Kind regards James.

I know its not a game, but that list you posted of what .acf files you have shows
appmanifest_5578.acf
A video for Silent Hunter 5
So maybe that also counts.
