Interesting. Although the fill rate standing still seems identical whether I'm using Exhaust or Live injector. I could have sworn it wasn't like this at one point and the exhaust injector was useless standing still (regulator off etc). As I said.. For all I know it could have always been broken and I've just been amusing myself for years using the right combination of injectors and valves.

Re my experiences with the improved Black 5 - I always drive with manual fireman and on this occasion, forgot to read the manual (I know, I know!). For injector purposes I used my previous default 'I' (live) and 'O' (exhaust) keyboard keys together with their respective water valves 'K' /Shift 'K' and 'L'/Shift 'L'. When I hit the live injector - 'I' - there was a chugging noise like a pump with no liquid which, when I then hit 'K', changed to the usual water flow noise and the boiler level increased. However, when I hit the 'O' key, the same chugging noise applied but this didn't change when I subsequently hit the 'L' key and in fact, it looked to me like the exhaust injector wasn't working. In the manual I can't find any reference to the exhaust injector - have I missed something?

I like the improvements to the steam driving experience although interestingly, even on the relatively level Dumfries to Carlisle section, have only found a 'balancing speed' of about 57-59 mph achievable. That's musing the old techniques (9% running brake, dampers on, small ejector closed, etc.)

Did the ex S&D 7Fs make it that far north in BR service?

Presumably the ubiquitous 8F would also be suitable motive power for the route???

I don't think, bar a trial period in the East Midlands in Midland days, the 7Fs ever got far from the S&D, in fact I would guess they all spent their entire life sheded at Bath.
If only all problems on the big railway could simply be TAB'd past...

And Templecombe.

Apart from works visits to Derby, they didn't leave the S&D.

Oooops, my mis-read of the Wiki article...
The S&DJR locos were taken into London, Midland and Scottish Railway stock in 1930,
Of course, the whole line went to the Midland until WR take over & closure

Mind you I manually fire my steam.

This happens whether realistic or legacy mode is picked

Mind you.. The only input difference between the two is a 2% difference in regulator.. But look at the idiotic steam generation change..
Try changing this line in the Simulation bin file under the Super Heater from this,

<Responsiveness d:type="sFloat32" d:alt_encoding="000000A09999D93F" d:precision="string">0.7</Responsiveness>

To this,

<Responsiveness d:type="sFloat32" d:alt_encoding="000000A09999D93F" d:precision="string">0.4</Responsiveness>

Made a world of difference for me.

Does anyone know whether WLOS has been patched (re sound confusion with Port Road). I want to buy this but as I will invest a lot of time in populating it I always make a copy...hence need it patched first.

I thought that there was some sound issues caused by Port Road overwriting something?

The track rule and skies were referenced to the "original" Port Road release at first. Don't recall there being any sound conflicts between the two. As Kirk has mentioned, the patch has now been applied via Steam

It was only the skydome and the super elevation which was getting overwrote by the original port road, wasn't any sounds issues as far as I'm aware, don't recall anyone mentioning any associated with the old version.

There are two sound issues with the WoSL Route that I know of (and have reported through RailSimulator.com Support), but of course may not necessarily affect all users.
  1. Creating and starting a scenario from either bay platform at Dumfries, you are immediately enveloped in a cacophony of "echo-chamber" noises until passing under the first bridge, when normality returns. I have just re-checked and this does not seem to have been fixed with this update.
  2. When travelling Westbound with a Black 5 (having started from Dumfries), the locomotive sound gets stuck in a loop west of Newton Stewart and it sounds as if you are still trundling along - at whatever speed and even if you are stationary. This seems to affect all Black 5s, including the Kuju with or without the "92212" sound improvements. You can get the sound back by stopping, saving and restarting but it continues to re-occur and it seems normality can't be resumed until a stop/save/restart at Dunragit. I haven't re-checked this, and don't really intend to do so for now given the time into a scenario it occurs.

The only sound issue i'm aware of, (that has been acknowledged by the loco developer) is no idle noise from the loco at standstill...

Although... i'm completely fed up with the absolutely insane level of reverb under every single bridge (including foot bridges) and cuttings through rock, and approaching Carlisle through the walled section - It's really terrible (i don't suppose this can be removed in the world editor by any chance?)
Why couldn't the steam loco sit down? - Because he had a tender behind.

Turn off EFX, that will get rid of reverb.
