No, it doesn't impede the route from running, its just that I thought everything would have been included in the package.

Re: Just Trains Mid Hants Railway
The decals were used by the developer when he built the route, you wouldn't really want them included in the route package as you wouldn't see any terrain painting
Nothing to worry about, you're not missing anything.

Think of the decals as being like any .bak files created whilst the route was being produced---you wouldn't want months of backups included with the route, would you?Ajay1 wrote:No, it doesn't impede the route from running, its just that I thought everything would have been included in the package.
You can easily remove the references to these decals in RW Tools, just delete the offending items of scenery in the 'Check Routes' feature.

Re: Just Trains Mid Hants Railway
I have to question why its really nessessary to run the route through rw-tools to find those missing decal files in the first place, surely you install and away you go

Re: Just Trains Mid Hants Railway
I've been following this with interest as the route does look tempting, but possibly not at that price, although if the MHR are gaining from it...
As to running the route through rwtools; I can understand it for a freeware route, but I'd be reasonably confident that an outfit like JT would thoroughly test to ensure it is all there before publishing it!

Re: Just Trains Mid Hants Railway
Assuming that payware routes contain all of the necessary files is not a safe assumption, although the Just Trains routes appear to be better than some.
RSC's Donner Pass route was originally missing some files, as identified by RW_Tools, and after a while and a bit of nagging, RSC finally added them in an update.

Re: Just Trains Mid Hants Railway
Testing was done before and after the installer using RW Tools to check for missing assets, the decals were the only files which showed up for me and as such no changes needed to be made, had any actual assets been missing then of course the dev would've been notified and asked where/what they were.

Re: Just Trains Mid Hants Railway
I run a route thru RW Tools for the same reason, missing files. One example was the Brighton Main Line. Not only did it have unrequired decal files it also made reference to a file, IIRC, bml_inv_road.bin which was not present. As it so happens I found that the Portsmouth line had one called gd_inv_road.bin so I used that after making some changes in the file for it to point to the correct file locations etc.
Also I found that assetts from the IOW were needed on one route but no mention in the manual (if it had one). As I don't have the IOW I removed them altogether. This was based on a theory that I assume that each time a file is requested and not found does if the system keeps looking for it and that may be the cause of a SBHH on the odd occassion?

Re: Just Trains Mid Hants Railway
As has already been said, decals aren't a problem----if I'm not mistaken any decals created from google earth can't be used anyway due to copyright.
Missing scenery assets rarely cause a SBHH, you just get a milk bottle, though I'd concede that given enough being missing may have some strange effects.
I'd hazard a guess that the " _inv_" is short for 'invisible'.......RONVKING wrote: Portsmouth line had one called gd_inv_road.bin

Re: Just Trains Mid Hants Railway
Hello all so just trains are doing the mid hants for £20.00 for 10 miles of track and as far as I can see they add no new locos when there many they could of done thats not to mention the diesels i think that is overpriced and I will not buy it at that price.

I would agree but also argue the fact that at least half of those are already available, just from different creators.

As usual, if you think anything is too expensive you have the right not to purchase--nobody is forcing anybody to part with money.tornados wrote:i think that is overpriced and I will not buy it at that price.
When discussing the cost of DLC it usually ends up with a comparison to costs involved in a model railway, so.....
10 miles in OO scale = 227 yards , at around £2.80 per yard that'd be a cost of £635.60 (single track all the way)

Re: Just Trains Mid Hants Railway
Benchmark for a route with a new item of stock is generally £25. Whilst this is shorter than many routes, it looks like it has a significant amount of custom scenery. Personally I would have expected a new kettle with it to part with my money, buy there's no grounds for complaint here - you know what you're buying so make your own decision.

Re: Just Trains Mid Hants Railway
Having purchased the route from JT, while a very pretty route etc., I'm thoroughly disgusted that it's incomplete re the scenery items. As I've said many times on this forum, it's OK for you tecchie whiz kids to make the route 'good', but it is totally beyond my ability to do that. Actually, why should I have to repair the route/scenarios myself anyway ? - I paid good money out of my meagre pension for this 'completed' route & am not impressed with seeing large cooling towers [Mully creation !!!] showing missing objects at various locations along the route, notably Alton & Ropley. All I'll say to you highly gifted, tolerant DIY repair experts is : Would you buy a new suit with a sleeve missing off the jacket & you, your wife, your girlfriend or somebody else's wife having to repair it !!!!
I THINK NOT !!
Just Trains & the route creators need to be severely reprimanded for releasing this UNFINISHED route, & then expect people like me to put it right.
