More disappearance

Another strange disappearance with TS2013.
Some days ago I signalled that the Class 150 files had been suppressed in our TS2013 installation.
The files came back one day later in an improved version of Class 150.
Let's say it was a mistake, an error quickly corrected but it is worrying me that RSC/Steam could delete things we have bought.
So I made several checks based on a former installation of TS2013, frozen (protected from RSC/Steam updates) on October 26.
OK some large update like "The Donner Pass" deleted many files since the route was rebuilt.
But there were some other hidden changes
- The Isle of Wight route had 10 career scenarios : Now I have none !
- The Munich to Ausburg route had 4 career scenarios : Now only one is present !
....
These files were deleted by and update that occurred on January 10.
Of course I did a full verification of files with Steam and they did not reappear 8 days after their removal.
I am not a great fan of career system scenario so I don't say that I am missing those scenarios dearly (and I have a backup).
OK, that's mostly a matter of principle, however these deletions are worrying me since they always come unannounced and are never documented.

Considered keeping the game off line until the time comes when you want to get an update/verify?
A backup of the assets and contents folder is also a very good idea, which I see you're already doing.

I have a complete backup of TS2012 on 2 DVDs.

This forum is starting to sound like one of those American 9/11 conspiracy videos on YouTube. We have just seen a slew of DLC re-introduced to Steam with Kuju dependencies removed so I'm lead to believe. If that is the case then surely similar will have to happen with scenarios to stop them pointing at dependencies the developers no long wish to use.
I'm purely playing devils advocate here rather than assuming someone is deliberately coming along and deleting stuff off out installs for no reason.

Then again Steam is reknown for not send all files over during a 'cache verify' isn't it?
Always a good idea to run it again straight away to check!

Deltic009 stop being so rational, hysteria is where it is at on here!
A couple of times I have had to verify the cache more than once as I have ended up with more missing files.

The issue is that we are not told when and why these changes are occurring and in the case of removal, whether they will be returned.
It's unlikely I know, but what if you had only purchased the IOW route because it was advertised as being supplied with 10 career scenarios, then to find they have now been removed?

For the record, I have all 10 career scenarios and about 20 others for the IOW on my system.

I suggest the combination of both for maximum joy.
Never go online without having a full backup (including the Steam stuff itself and the RW programmes).
Then rave a bit.
Then restore the backup. Or do another verify cache if you believe in progress and find that faster than the restore.
Disclaimer: The above was a joke. I do not promote pestering support with your personal combination of half a download and an old backup.

I don't know if this is connected, and it's only happened the once to me but earlier this morning I was messing about in a free roam scenario I use for testing stuff. I moved a couple of class 47 locos about, saved the scenario but when it reloaded the change hadn't 'stuck'. Tried it again a couple of times with the same result so exited the game to start afresh. On entering the scenario to carry on 'messing' the locos had disappeared, and no class 47s showed in the available stock list .
Re-booting the PC put everything back to as it should be, but I'm wondering if there's a memory issue going on, causing some assets not to be loaded.
I've tried to replicate it, but with no success so far so it may well be just 'one of those things' but if you find somethings not there and you know it should be then a re-boot may be in order.

Has anybody checked that the scenarios are actually still on their hard drives, just not showing in the game? That'd be quite a different thing from 'having them taken off us' which is how it was being described in the Steam forum.

Hi gptech,
My apologize for the daly.
You are right. The scenario folders are still here but the carrier scenarios are not showing in the game. (10 lost on "The Isle of Wight" and 3 lost on "Munich to Augsburg")
So if you check with RW_Tools, RW_Tools will show them as present but the don't appear in the game menu.
I did some search and found out that the ScenarioProperties.xml file is not correct in those scenario folders.
For example, on The isle of Wight" route (folder 6268b042-6154 .....), the first carrier scenario is "Island Liner Day Rover : Part 1 CS" (holding folder : 805d75e5-3f8d.......).
If you have a look in the ScenarioProperties.xml file of this scenario, you will find that it is incorrect mostly near the end :

You can see that many xml tags are ill formed like <RBlueprintSetPreLoad /> : There is a blank between the tag name and the /
Luckily, this doesn't crash the game when it launches (a common issue with ill formatted xml files).
However the format is incorrect so this scenario will not show up anywhere in the game.
It looks like this mistake happened when RSC added some extraneous languages file (French and Spanish) to the route and its scenario. Files are dated January 10 and the update took place by January 14 on my system.
The bug is still present even if I ran through several updates and verifications in the mean time.
Obviously, RSC has some difficulties to properly manage their updates (or to have correct validation of what they deliver by their so called Q&A department).

As mentioned in another thread I have 18 scenarios for the IOW including Island Day Liner Rover parts 1 and 2.
