Hmmm, that's what the internet is for.......Start here and carry on. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portpatric ... nt_Railway

I'll hazard a guess and say that an updated default Class 101 will be bundled up with this route, well, we can all dream.

Absolutely superb footage, thank you, and it makes you realise how good Keith Ross's work is! The Cinerail dvd The Railways of Scotland Vol. 12 The South West concludes with a run from Dumfries to Stranraer followed by a speeded up run in reverse shot from the rear window of an LMS brake - it certainly makes you realise how much curvature there was on this line.

I believe the Port Road was one of this routes where diesel engines never ran regularly (perhaps the late boat train). This was all the time a steam engine route. Let the kettle fly! :D

I missed this the first time it was posted. Many thanks for posting it again, a thoroughly enjoyable watch.

It's a testament to the quality of the original Port Road that almost all of the first few minutes, along the stretch between Dumfries and Castle Douglas, are instantly recognisable.

As for traction policy the port road itself might well have been a largely steam route with only the odd diesel interloper in real life but Dumfries to Carlise was very much dieselised, even toward the end of steam on BR, and in RWland the entirety of this new route is going to make a very nice home for all those green diesels in my collection.

Wonder how long until it comes out. Looks absolutely fantastic. The last beta I tested for Keith before the route went RSC was absolutely stunning so really can't wait for it.

I was hoping it would be this week. Well, I can wait until February, I suppose, but this is on the list to get as soon as it's released.
