Wasn't expecting them to be one route....you can record your coal and water and restart on a new section. Settle is a dead end....should get it down to Manchester so I can get to Sheffield....then cross country to the ECML?ChrisBarnes wrote:Settle linked to Woodhead? Settle or Carlisle to Manchester would be a pretty big route just to connect them as it is.pilot37 wrote:Yes, we need Settle linked to the Woodhead etc

We have the 2P, the 4F, the Black Five and the 4MT and soon the 2MT as kettles for this route(s). Do anyone know the prototype steam engine for the boat train? Was it a Patriot or a Pacific or also a 2P or Black Five?
Re: The Port Road- out soon
I believe DT completed thier 2MT November/December. RSC have it but as far as I am aware have not released it for sale yet.
May be a few scenarios with a 2MT on the Port Road?

Re: The Port Road- out soon
I have no doubt RSC have been keeping the Standard 2MT back ready for release alongside this route.
Obviously other appropriate loco's for the route will come from a particular third party company!
There will I believe be an update soon for DT's 2p which will be much welcomed.

While I have no interest in acquiring the sim, I always look out for Keith's videos and the work he has done on this route is just superb.
In my opinion he is easily one of the top route builders in train simming.

Try Brits double-headed with a B5 sometimes.windberg wrote:We have the 2P, the 4F, the Black Five and the 4MT and soon the 2MT as kettles for this route(s). Do anyone know the prototype steam engine for the boat train? Was it a Patriot or a Pacific or also a 2P or Black Five?

I have zero knowledge about this route and its history. It would be good to see some reference pictures.

Carlisle would also have patriots and jubilees far as I recall coming off S&C and in earlier years probably as far a field as Penrith. The beauty of having Carlisle added is anything which ran in steam days on the WCML North would appear here aswell and you also have traffic coming from the southern part of the WCML, granted it wouldn't all come over onto the rest of the port road network but having Carlisle still allows for plenty of traction. In general though there is scope for quite a sigificant array of steam and br blue era on the entire route, so its certainly quite welcome and it could quite possible spur some new releases to cater for the various traction which still isn't available.

Of course you can run what you like but historically speaking Dumfries-Castle Douglas-Kirkudbright and Challoch Junction closed in 1965. I doubt it saw much in the way of diesels at all, and certainly not blue!crumplezone wrote:In general though there is scope for quite a sigificant array of steam and br blue era on the entire route.

Now that's an excellent suggestion. They are missing an opportunity for enhanced operations not doing that.smarty2 wrote:A suggestion of mine some time ago is not to physically "link routes together because it would melt ordinary computers, but...... to use the same assets at the routes through or terminating stations so one could simply load a new scenario in the adjoining route, wished they had done that with the PDL from Reading, and if they really wanted to be swanky about it you could have it load the next scenario automatically at the finish of the previous one with some nice vid of the station in question!

Yes Smarty2, that IS a brilliant idea
Re: The Port Road- out soon
You would think RSC can't be far off being able to do that with some kind of modified relay point that while saving loco positions / time, also loads a new route so you can continue your journey.

Re: The Port Road- out soon
That would be good with an automatic save being made and a dialogue asking if you want to continue or wait for next time. The auto save would be crucial to avoid an SBHH between routes causing you to lose progress.daemonmp3 wrote:You would think RSC can't be far off being able to do that with some kind of modified relay point that while saving loco positions / time, also loads a new route so you can continue your journey.
