Apologies to all as I'm sure this will have been asked ad-nauseum...
I have downloaded Aster V2 data for the UK. They were GEO TIFFs with a TIFF extension. Data is read in OK, but the terrain looks like the Somme.
Should I be using the GeoTiff format or TIF and hence why my it's Foobar? I can't find a definitive answer anywhere.
Cheers all
Dave

The water surfaces are noisy at gdem (scatters the radar waves or something). Also the cities look chaotic, as it have high resolution so the bigger buidings become visible on it.

TIF but it doesn't work with TS2013. At least not for me.
Re: Aster GDEM Data
Didn't work for me until I renamed the files from ASTGTM2* to ASTGTM*. I just wondered if I needed to convert from GeoTiff to Tif to get smoother features.
If I was modelling the Moon, then this data would be excellent
