I'm also getting poor frame rates!

Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 965 Processor, 3400 Mhz
Video card: ATI Radeon 5700 series
RAM: 8GB
OS: Windows 8 64bit

I am unable to get good results with TSX mode so I have to use legacy mode. I have tried many settings using the game and CCC but to no avail. Even with legacy mode I don't use shadows at all because of their affect on frame rates.

Probably not connected to the card but since TS2013 I am also unable to edit scenarios on my own route - SBHH each time.

Really not enjoying TS2013 at the moment whereas I think I should be - so frustrating!! Impossible for me to tie down the problem and sort it out (hardware or software or both)

End of rant!!

This has been a problem of ATI card users since day 1, RSC considered nVidia cards were far better for the game, I have only ever used ATI and will never been 100% happy, changing the settings in the Catalyst Controller does nothing, as the game has its own settings and override whatever you have them set to previously, I found using FSAA and MSAA worked, but, it's all trial and error personally speaking, as we all have different systems, and, for taking screenshots, that's another anomoly with the settings, you need to experiment, and of course it depends on the complexity of the route you're driving on, some give good fps, others are laggy, etc, but, from what I've read on a few forums for the last couple of years, ATI cards are 2nd best in this game.

For those having issues I suggest trying Radeonpro tool as gives you more customisation then CCC.

As the catalyst AI seems to disagree with rail works a lot and only way to disable it is by a custom profile. I haven't had any issues with my old 4870s or my current 7870 with RW, but I have on other games that were fixed with driver updates.

I would post a link but using my tablet on a train back south from Scotland.

Since im now home after a rather long day.

http://www.radeonpro.info/en-US/ Here is the link to the above program i mentioned, It ranges if it will give you performance increases, but helps me for disabling the CCC side stuff for Railworks/TS though.

Already frames have jumped up and the game looks great. I have slight issue though texture wise, some of the ground textures where white, and the sky was black. Have you had that before? I have uploaded a screenshot using the current settings

Yes, I had that same anomoly on Tuesday after I'd done the December update from Steam, my settings were changed and I altered them to FXAA + 4 + SAA and when I went onto the Albula route, all the sky was black and the ground was white, as though it was a winter's night, very strange, so, I changed the settings back to default, I think it was, rebooted my computer, as I don't think it does it automatically and when I went back onto the route, the textures had reverted back to their proper colours.

@ Chris

I've downloaded this utility, but, it won't install on my PC as it states - This program requires Windows NT version 6.0.6001 or later, so, not being an IT expert I'm unsure what to do now.

Sorry im not sure, As far as i know it Supports XP, Vista, Win 7 & expect Win 8 so could be a strange bug or something, can have a look into it though.

It isn't a wonder programe, but may help a lot of the issues people do suffer from though.

6.0.6001 was (is) a Vista build, so the info on the download page is a little misleading as it says XP is supported, albeit with certain features not working. I can't see an archives section, so you might have bother getting an older version.

Thanks Gary, yes, it does say XP is supported, oh well not too worry, I'll have to give this a miss then.

Thanks to Chris for posting the link anyway, hopefully this utility tool might help others.

I may of cracked it with some success.

Don't use the first AA setting. Use only the FXAA setting and SMAA
This will eliminate the Black sky and white ground textures - I also set in game AA settings to Off
The rest will need tweaking to your specs.
