On one of my scenario's (Before You Go Home) for James' Central Route I've had reports back of certain Missing Markers at "Wigan NWR Shed 1" and "Butts Lane Fuel Coal" on the route. The reported missing markers in question are the original route markers and not scenario markers.
The route has been checked and reinstalled and the markers are definately there.
I did a search on the forum to find it has been mentioned on numerous occasions on numerous routes (including WCML_N) going back to atleast Railworks but on no occasion has a definitive answer or explantion at what causes it been posted.
Has anyone has this and found a way of putting thier finger on what causes it?
Regards
Phil

Scenario Missing Markers
For disclosure, I am affiliated with a third party developer however, I do not know anything about any future releases unless I'm working on them and even then, I'd be breaking years worth of built up trust to say anything about it

Re: Scenario Missing Markers
Hi Phil,
I have just tested the Markers and Track to check for Ribbon errors and Faulty Track. They work as expected with both AI and Player Train. Their integrity is therefore correct.
Kind regards James.

Re: Scenario Missing Markers
One cause can be when a couple or uncouple instruction is used. These reference the rolling stock in the appropriate consist and if the consist has changed so that one of the numbers referenced has changed or that item has been deleted then the instruction fails with this unhelpful error message. The missing marker it mentions is the place used in the instruction.

Thanks Keith
That did the trick

Re: Scenario Missing Markers
Just to explain what I did wrong
I made a consist up of dead loco's for the player to couple up to. I attempted to change one of the loco's number after i had set the task in the timetable. This, as Kieth pointed out, was why the two markers where the consist would be coupled up and eventually dropped were reported missing.
What I did to fix it
In the scenario editor in RW, I swapped like for like a consist of 'dead' loco's and edited each task command to select the new loco's and it seemed to work,
The test brought up the usual 'broken consist' message, but that seems to happen with the best of scenario's.
If there is a section in the Q&A for error messages and probable causes/solutions I think it could be a good idea to add this.
Regards
Phil
