Just wanted to say thanks to Brian and Matt for this superb Black 5 pack.

It really is excellent.

I'm just working my way through the equally excellent scenarios.

Thanks to you all.

Me too :) , thank you so much - sat outside the cab just behind the tender, listening to the beats and wheezes as the Black 5 has worked its way up from Sheffield Victoria to Wortley on a snowy winter's night has got to have been one of my most immersive experiences in this sim. All that was missing was the smell of steam and oil (and the icy blast!).

Looks and sounds are just perfect.

Couldn't agree more with the comments above.

I was lucky enough to be asked by Brian to 'trial' this masterpiece pre-release and suggested to him that it would be the "icing on the cake" if Matt's Black 5 sounds could be included in the final release. Little did I know that Matt would pull out all the stops out and provide a special set of 'worn-out' sounds for Brian's work stained version of the Black 5. What a great team they have proved to be, many, many thanks to them both for all the hard work and long hours they have put in to achieve this and for very kindly sharing it with us.

Agreed - this is a fantastic pack and the sounds really bring the Black 5 to life. They are amongst the best steam loco sounds I've heard so far - and to think it's free! Brian's has done a magnificent job repainting the loco and it looks just like I remember them in the last days of steam. I can imagine the hours he's spent trying to get that special look. Add to that the 4 very interesting scenarios and it's all in all a pure winner! Many thanks to those involved bringing this to us. Can't wait to get it into the Laneshaw route! :D

Well, I echo all the comments above, and even though i'm a diesel nut, I was exceptionally impressed with this, not just the sounds, which are simply superb, but, the intricate reskinning is absolutely fabulous, I doff my hat off to all concerned, if only all Railworks steamers could look and sound like this, I wouldn't touch a smelly diesel for months......

Cheerz. Transport Steve.

Agreed. Looks the part and certainly sounds the part. Well done. We need more of the same!

Yes, this is a lovely train and scenario set. Thanks so much.

I ran the short stopping service in the snow to Penistone 2. Quite enjoyable. It wouldn't let me load/unload passengers at the final stop though. Too bad, as I was on time all the way through for a change! :-)

I don't know whether this is more of a problem on Woodhead than other routes but I've had problems unloading passengers if the nose of the loco comes much more than level with a platform signal. When I was working on my two scenarios for the pack this caused me a fair bit of frustration as I tested them. You can't do what the drivers did in real life and pull up alongside the signal to bring the maximum number of coaches onto the platform. To be sure, you need to put the smokebox a couple of feet before the signal post. Sometimes it will let you reverse to the right position but you obviously lose time.

Ahh, thanks for the help. I'll try again. Funny thing is that it let me move up to and past the signal at earlier stops, and it kept telling me 2 more feet in the Task Log distance at the final stop (I checked task log to see why it wasn't loading). But worth a try. Very enjoyable at any rate. Looking forward to the other scenarios. Best experience I've had driving a Black 5, or really any UK steam loco other than the new Austerity. Love these new more realistic steam engines!

I think it's on old bug existing back to RS days. It seems to happens with multiple track sections within one platform. It may not be this issue, but it has occured to me.

Downloaded this last night and off now to do a semi stopper :D

It does work but the positioning of the train in the platform at some stations on Woodhead is quite critical for some reason. You might have the same problem on "Substitute Steam to Sheffield" at some stations.

I found Dinting was particularly sensitive on both main-line platforms, Mervyn. Others were a bit less picky but not by much! :)

Well, I'm learning something about this route then. Funny what you miss when you rarely do passenger services! :-)
