In some stations you can undershoot or overeshoot the platform by a couple of coaches and the doors still open and register a stop. In other places, even two or three feet can make the difference between registering a stop or not - even when the whole train is within the platform ends. If you are sufficently early, you have time to adjust your position and still remain within the timetable, but the time taken to restore vacuum for a move can be limiting!

I have had a similar problem on other routes, but Woodhead seems to be the most sensitive. Such is life as an engine driver!

Superb work gents ! really enjoyed the penistone scenario even if i missed a station completely faffing trying to get water into the boiler  She certainly seems to generate steam easily which for me is one leass headache. I wish i knew how to read the firemass so i could get rid of the F5 hud. Truely outstanding work though all round chaps. RSC could use a few like yourselves

On some current stations you can't even open the coach doors, never mind being millimetre perfect on a 15 coach platform and the game not registering that you're in the correct position, this is one of the biggest let downs within Railworks as a simulator, in real life a driver used to pull up to a 8/10/12 car stop knowing full well that all his coaches were against the platform edge, you never saw 'em shunting backwards and forwards to get the coach doors to align correctly with the platforms, steam, electric, diesel or multiple units, it's utterly ridiculous, and have RSC fixed this bug since 2009, 'ave they 'eck as like, and career scenarios are still being created knowing full well that the end-user will have frustrating problems and points deducted for this reason, that's why so many don't entertain this career mode fiasco anymore, and unfortunately the newer members of the community don't know that this bug exists and think that it's their driving that's at fault rather than a wholesale problem with the game.

Having a great time using this loco.

Is there any way to apply these sounds to the Kuju model. I seem to have some with Matt's Black 5 soundpack and some with the default. Cannot locate why the difference.

Will be taking this over the S&D when I get time. Can smell the steam!!

Brilliant.

Have you modified the Black 5 versions in both the Woodhead and the Kuju folders?

No these were all Kuju ones. The new Woodheads are fine.

Did a simple copy and paste of the new Audio folder over the Kuju folder and tried out an S&D scenario. Many of the sounds seem to have copied accross - a few like the longer whistle have not though. However ceertainly promising although more to test. These new sounds have a real -rasp= when the train approaches just like in reality.

Chris, I think this is something for Matt to answer, I don't have permission to use these sounds on any other asset. I would contact Matt for his opinion on moving them to the default Black 5.

I drove this Black 5 for the first time yesterday on Woodhead; was taking holidaymakers to Skegness :D and I must say that this is the BEST 'driving a steam engine in RW' experience that I ever had! It is a real pleasure to hang out of the window and drive this machine. Finally we have a Black 5 in this sim that looks and sounds like one. I have been reluctant to drive the default Black 5 lately, as it never looked and sounded right to me. The sounds, the steam effects and the re skin are beautifully done and I wish that more, if not all, steam engines would get this treatment.

I too must thank Brian and Matt for this superb package, Keith and Mervyn for the scenarios and RSC of course for Woodhead. I have posted some screenshots in my Steam community profile, s.a. this one: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/f ... =112823515

Thanks again guys 8)

Just wanted to add my sincere thanks to Brian and Matt for this, too. I'm a bit of a diesel-head myself, but in part this is because the steam offerings in RW have been rather wanting. Till now. This is a wonderful loco - sounds the part, looks the part. Definitely a keeper. Thanks so much for all your hard work - it has truly been worth it. And thanks even more for giving it away freely. Merry Christmas one and all! :)

I'm assuming I can swap out other Black 5s with this one in RW_Tools. I'd love to try this one in some freight scenarios.

Yes no problem swopping the Black 5's with RWTools (can't remember whether you need to tick RSC Woodhead in the Object filter?), they look and sound great on a 'heavy' Freight.

I don't often drive steamers, although I keep wanting to get into them and learn how to drive them.. But this Black5 modification just sealed the deal. Most immersive steam loco drive in RW yet! Just did the Skegness activity and was 7minutes late but every second was great :)

I wish more locos sounded and felt this great! For once I actually had the suspension of disbelief that it was alive!

Do we know if the authors are subscribed to this thread? I hope so - because there are some great comments here that (if I were the author) I wouldn't want to miss.

On another tack, I have discovered a slight error that I'd like to bring to their notice. Forgive me if this is the not UKTS etiquette way, but I'm not sure of their user-IDs to reach them via a PM.

I think that the cylinder c0ck handle is misplaced in the Dirty Black 5 - it seems to be about a foot forward of its proper position. Here are some screenshots that I hope illustrate the (minor) problem. Sorry if they are a tad dark, but they should get the basic jist across.
Dirty Black 5 cylinder c0ck handle fwd view
Dirty Black 5 cylinder c0ck handle fwd view
Dirty Black 5 cylinder c0ck handle side view
Dirty Black 5 cylinder c0ck handle side view
Default Black 5 cylinder c0ck handle side view (for comparison)
Default Black 5 cylinder c0ck handle side view (for comparison)
Operation doesn't seem affected in the slightest - the c0cks still open with the 'C' key, and extra steam is visible from the cylinders in external view when the handle is open, so everything seems to be working okay. It even animates correctly - but is just too far forward to see its pivot-point, and appears embedded in the bulkhead metal, rather than in its intended little framework.

Hope this is useful - my apologies again if this is the wrong place/method to report such things.
