Free update for the Edinburgh-Glasgow expansion pack coming soon for Train Simulator. The 14 mile extension will include the Grangemouth Intermodal terminal and refinery area. New route scenery has been created that populates the entire Falkirk Grahamston Branch between Polmont and Greenhill Upper Junction, including the stations at Falkirk Grahamston and Camelon. The scenery has been further extended to also include Larbert Station and the goods reversing sidings to the North, and even the world famous Falkirk Wheel and canal can be seen. All existing owners of the route will automatically receive a free upgrade via Steam
there you go.
wonder if that will cause any complaints
"THEY SHOULD BE PAYING ME FOR THIS UPDATE!"

No complaints here. It looked originally that this scenery extension was going to be tied to the upcoming re-versioning of the 66 so it's good news that it's now looking like a freebie to existing owners.
I'ts tempting to wonder though if this isn't a bit of post-101 damage limitation.

Just a small note
Edinburgh to Glasgow is a production of Thomson Interactive not RSC, so I suppose they would have the say so on whether the update was free or not.

From the very first announcement it has been explicitly stated that the revised Edinburgh & Glasgow route would be a free update for existing owners.
As an added bonus, all existing owners of the Edinburgh-Glasgow route will automatically get a free intermodal extension of the route!

No, it hasn't. Here's the original announcement in full:
The heavyweight of freight is coming! A new and re-worked version of the ever-popular Class 66 features a new exterior and improved cab interior, accurate brake control, centre-sprung brake lever, and accurate engine and horn sounds. This new version will soon be available in Freightliner and EWS liveries, with FEA Spline intermodal wagons and scenarios for the Edinburgh-Glasgow route also included. As an added bonus, all existing owners of the Edinburgh-Glasgow route will automatically get a free intermodal extension of the route!
Sure reads to me like the added bonus was for purchasers of the 66 who also happened to own E-G and I dont think I'm alone in having taken that interpretation as the discussion about it was confined to the Class 66 thread until the latest announcement today. Still, it's nice that people are always prepared to go around after the event telling us what RSC actually meant to say all along, so thanks for clearing that up.

I have to admit I thought that was the case myself. I was very surprised when it was announced the update to E&G was to be a seperate, free download.
I must say well done to whoever for that.

Well, that's a rather strange conclusion to draw in my opinion, especially since the announcement specifically mentions
all existing owners of the Edinburgh - Glasgow.
Still, it's nice that honest attempts to clarify what has been stated are met with such good will.

The update to the Edinburgh to Glasgow route has been released, came as a 49 MB update on my machine, just starting to explore the new track now. I will post an update later but thought I'd let the forum know as I had not seen it mentioned.

So, as I'm not prepared to buy this updated Class 66 I won't get the free upgrade to E-G, then, is that what is being stated. Once again, RSC's mis-communication and poorly worded announcement is throwing the community into complete disarray, as always, sounds to me that RSC's Marketing Department have all been on the sherry.
Cheerz. Transport Steve.

Steve, the announcement was clear I think. It said "all existing owners of the Edinburgh-Glasgow route will automatically get a free intermodal extension of the route".

Well, not to split hairs Paul, it does state that the extension comes along with this Class 66 with accompanying scenarios for the route, I thought it was another of RSC's sneaky ways of exploiting us to obtain something we want by having to purchase something we don't all want, if you get me drift......

Update on the extension: The track is laid to north of Stirling, with colour light signalling (I thought Stirling was still semaphore?) throughout but there are no platforms. The scenery runs out north of Larbert station (don't think this was on the original route).
I have not got the v2 Class 66 so can confirm all route owners get the update. Next I will go and explore the freight terminal.

Striling Branch hasn;t been touched then... shame - always fancied doing a triangular Edinburgh-Stirling-Glasgow run...
