Astonishing price point for this release. Astonishing.

And to top it off, they have stated on Facebook that the original 101 will not be upgraded! I have had enough of this

Hands up - I bought this last night, just because I really like the 101, the chance to get the weather effects and hopefully gear problem fixed. Shallow, I know, but it caught me at a weak moment.

I will say though, that to make matters worse, of the 3 scenarios, the first is a 10 minute tutorial - unless I'm very much mistaken. I say this because as yet I've not been able to run it as I get an error stating Class 47 Large Logo is missing. At the moment I'm verifying cache hoping this will solve it. So I can't make any further comments to maybe somehow redeem what's a pretty surprising and disappointing (regarding price and content) release on the behalf of RSC :(

There is never a guarantee that any content upgrade will be free, or at a reduced price. I say this bearing in mind I have a vastly upgraded program representing many more hours hard work then one piece of DLC that I got for free, along with various other upgrades like Paddington-Oxford. Perhaps RSC have engendered a culture of "free uprgades' upon themselves but I sincerely doubt anyone can genuinely feel ripped off - look at other games and software platform that make far more demands on the wallet.

If you're really unhappy with the price then do not purchase it, it isn't a core requirement of the game. That is the best way RSC will know they've messed up the cost.

As a side note I thought this thread would be a good place to add this, as seen on Just Trains' Facebook Page:

Customer: How come route X isn't on sale? I enjoyed playing it at a friends house but I can't afford it now you've chosen not ot put it on sale.

This isn't a quote, but it is a summarized post based on what the customer asks and responds with. I was appalled somebody could take that kind of attitude with Just Trains for daring to not reduce the price of everything in a sale!

Its nothing about guranteed free content upgrade, reduced price or a culture created to automatically expect "free upgrades".

What people are disgruntled about, what people are finding a hard point about this is the fact RSC are taking pre-existing DLC which they removed the night before TS2013 came out has then been re-branded into a "version 2.0" pack with less content, less liveries, less scenarios and no further improvements beyond rain on window, lights or minor fixes. Also to add insult to injury the original pack which most bought is now effectively discontinued and RSC has zero plan to upgrade the original pack whatsoever.

Not only can the original 101 pack not be used on the steamworkshop for ALL users (it can be used, but only those who had it prior to TS2013) its scope of usage is even more limited with it only having the scottish region livery. The original 101 had a plateu of BR liveries ranging from gold whiskers right through to BR blue and grey era, no new users can even get this and are stuck with just the scottish region one and since RSC have stated the original pack isn't been done that means its left to reskinners, again RSC relying on community efforts to do what was ALREADY available.

Its inherently clear RSC is embarking on this "version 2.0" scheme, so this isn't going to be the first of it and in the end run if you want the upgrades you have to rebuy either full price or sale price, it still means for most users (lets be serious here, do you honestly believe TS2013 brought in more users than what was already there in the first place?) will end up having to rebuy the collection, which they already had with more content, for less content at a steeper content to price ratio.

Honestly if RSC are not making enough money on DLCs or are having to recoup costs for the free upgrade to TS2013 then they might aswell just bloody well come forward and say so instead of doing this slipshod roundabout way of recouping costs in the guise of "version 2.0" releases, no one should be happy with the way this is going(don't kid yourself if you think this is only a small spell of them doing this, this has been planned way in advanced, RSC plans everything a year in advanced) but there still be impulse buyers and muggins who buy it regardless so were probably going to stuck with this either way and any voiced concern or comments about it on their own high praised social media venues get ignored, so go figure.

As a massive fan of all things 80's/90's and Scottish sadly I won't be purchasing this either. I was looking forward to it and would have probably paid a couple of quid for whats on offer for the personal pleasure it would bring.

I am quite saddened by the comments too that the original model will not be upgraded either. I feel that the original, whilst making beautiful eye candy, was sold as sub standard regarding its sounds and physics. Easily implemented fixes have been produced by the community but to date have been completely ignored by RSC (or whatever they are called this week) which to me shows nothing but contempt towards the end user. This latest offering is just a slap in the face to all those who have supported the sim since its beginings. On a personal note, I have spent in the region of £300 in DLC, a further £1 or 200 on 3rd party content and about £250 in PC upgrades over the few years since Railsimulator was released.

As I've said before and given more recent developments in the direction and apparent attitude of RSC i will be extremely cautious in future where my money goes and if others start to behave in the same way then i genuinely question the longevity of the sim and wether its time to cut my losses and be happy with what I have as much of the MSTS squad has done previously.

crumplezone has got it absolutely right.

Are we going to be charged another £11.99 for a blue livery, I wonder? £11.99 for each variant?

Are you saying that the sound and / or physics haven't been improved in this version and as you haven't bought it how do you know?

Sadly RSC won't think about the community when releasing this. They have a much wider customer base who will easily fall for this and it will make them plenty of money. A shame but it's the approach that they are choosing to take.

"The Community" to them seems to be purely their Facebook page, certainly there is no "official" person left on here.

I think Rail Simulator are taking us for mugs,The class 101 the class 66 and the class 57 and what ever else they decide to redo and they have the cheek to want payment again.

I wish Rail simulator would hurry up and put back some of the dlc's (Class 37 etc) they have taken out of the store before bringing out new or reworked dlc.

It makes you wonder if they will do something similar to this with the 37.....

It looks like i'll be using Mike Simpsons excellent Rw Tools a lot more in the future to swap out the new DLC's for some of the old DLC's.

This is of course until rail simulator find some way of stopping us doing this.

Well I have just let RSC know how I feel about this by email, it will be interesting to see their response.

Not buying. There's absolutely no justification in money-grabbing £12 for a reskin, particularly as it doesn't even update the original 101 (which was £2 cheaper for four or five liveries IIRC). Challenger, Big Boy, 66, 101... I see a trend starting where they leave the original DLC in Railworks 1 state, withdraw it so that people can no longer buy it, and try to convince us to part with the same money again for a single, updated reskin and a rather comical number of scenarios.

It's nice to see RSC basically thinks its customers are numpties.
