Do you have a link? Doesn't seem to be visible in the Steam Store.

Is it possible that fourletr is referring to this one:

http://store.steampowered.com/app/222564/

... which is the Strathclyde DMU 101, that (I think) has been reworked for TS2013?

If so, I'm not going anywhere near it until I can be sure that it really *does* work with the XBOX controller, properly and fully, despite what it says in the 'flannel-panel' on the right of the Steam page about 'full controller support'. I fell for that with the Class 455 recently, and it's not compatible at all (brakes don't work properly). I've still had no solution or even agreement from RSC that there is a problem at all, despite me having emailed them directly about it.

Oh, I thought he meant the proper 101 (which has been withdrawn, hence all the discussion about the 101 on the forum). I don't think anyone's going anywhere near the Strathclyde 101 until they either re-instate the other liveries, update the original pack, or drop the price by 7 or 8 quid... Surely Xbox controller compatibility doesn't make it worth £12??

It looks like the original one to me ! 101DMU now available in "East Coast Mainline", Great Western Mainline", "Hedborough North" and Somerset & Dorset" Surely this is the one that went missing! Isn't it ?

Yeah - please supply a link...or it didn't happen. ;)

I've just pulled this off of RSC's homepage, in their Tweet widget:

"railsimulator At this moment in time we have no plans to update the original Class 101 @Sherlok24 3 days ago · reply · retweet · favorite"

So I am not convinced fourletr's talking about the 'old' 101 - unless it's been re-released in its original form, warts and all.
Confused...

If it's available to use on those routes it's that you already own it. It didn't go missing from our PCs, it was withdrawn from Steam.

The same widget also has this:

JLD‏@JLD_95 @railsimulator Hi, when I can buy the original Class101 ? Please add it on Steam 9:37 PM - 9 Dec 12

RAILSIMULATOR It is currently unavailable @JLD_95, keep an eye out for any news on here and Facebook. 2:29 AM - 10 Dec 12

Change of plan or just good old fashioned "handling of customer expectations"?

Maybe a change of heart, who knows?
For disclosure, I am affiliated with a third party developer however, I do not know anything about any future releases unless I'm working on them and even then, I'd be breaking years worth of built up trust to say anything about it ;-)

Sounds very much like a standard reply to me. They are always telling customers to keep looking at Facebook for news.

I know what you're saying, but it was the use of the term "currently unavailable" that struck me. Perhaps I'm reading too much into that particular choice of words. On the other hand, it's an official response on the medium of choice so surely we should be able to take it at face value?

Much has been said about the poor state of RSC's communications and incidents such as this only add to the impression that their stategy is poorly thought out and badly executed.

Just the other day there was another example. Coming shortly after the announcement that E-G was to be extended we had a facebook posting of a photo showing a 170 at Stirling station. Hands up who didn't join the dots. Plenty of people did and who can blame them? And yet, days later, we learn that the extension only goes as far as Larbert.

Now, theres only three possible explanations for this. It demonstrates that the right hand is blissfully ignorant as to what the left hand is up to within RSC, it shows that for all the emphasis on new-media RSC simply dosent get how it works or, and I'm hoping this is the least likely option, it proves that they have nothing but contempt for their "fans" and get their rocks off by dangling things like this in front of us for a laugh.

Whatever the explanation its yet another massive fail on the communication front.

ps. There is of course a fourth possible explanation for the Stirling photo, that RSC are going to pull a surprise xmas pressie out of the hat for us, but I'd not put my shirt on it.

The 101 that's confusing people in the European Asset Pack is the DB Class 101, not the BR DMU.
