Sorry Andy, should have been more clear! Once you've created the shortcut in Steam, right-click it in the list and select Properties, then click on "Set Launch Options". You can then enter SetFOV and the various other command lines here. SkipIntros still doesn't work this way though :(

Ignore my last, I've sussed it! The command to add is actually "-SetFOV=150", just the bit in red with a number of your choice. It can be added either in the Set Launch Options box of the Steam created TS2013 shortcut in the Steam library or in the Target box of the properties of a shortcut you make in the Steam library using Games>Add a Non-Steam Game to My Library, just add it to what's already there after putting in a space.

Thanks for the explanation but the odd thing is that unlike the Steam generated shortcut for TS2013 my self made one doesn't have a "Set Launch Options" box but I got round it as explained in my post above.

Apologies, my mistake! For custom Steam shortcuts you need to add the command lines to the end of the "Target" box, like this:

Code: Select all

"C:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\railworks\RailWorks.exe" -SetFOV=xx

Hi All,
I don't want to be a pain but since the update I experience strange markings on screen.
Didn't get any of this before.
rs.jpg
AMD Athlon X2
Win XP 32bit
4G (3G) RAM
HD6670 GRAPHICS
Cleared Cache
Verified game cache
updated Graphics Driver

Thanks
Dave

You say updated graphics driver - when did you update it? First thing I would try is rolling back this driver to the last one you had installed and have another look then. You don't have your card overclocked at all do you?

Hi rededge,
Thanks for the reply.
This happened immediately after the update.
I then installed the later drivers but it made no difference.
Card is not overclocked.
I would add that this is still happening even on default graphic settings.

Thanks
Dave

This is the best thing ever! Absolutely brilliant thanks for this.
In my limited testing so far 90 seems to be about right for me
Cheers

Like some others here I can no longer get the -SetFOV=xx command to work!

No matter what I try, desktop shortcuts with parameters specified, or the Steam Launch Options, the FOV no longer has any effect on my system??? This used to wortk just fine.

Has anyone actually worked out what has broken this for some of us? Obviously it is working for others though. Very annoying!

Cheers.

OK, OK. I'm clearly losing the plot. I spent two or three hours struggling with this yesterday, with no success. However, after a cold system start this morning, and a Steam restart, the -SetFOV command is working correctly and the view is changing as I modify the parameter values.

No idea what was going on there. But it seems to be functional now.

Very Strange!

Hi Dave,

Just a long shot really, but have you tried going to the Catalyst Control Center, click on Image quality/3D Application Settings and set all to "Use application settings" ?

Thanks emrhd01,
That worked a treat.
Strange because I already had it set for application control.
I unticked the application control boxes then apply and then reticked them and voila!
HUD now shows properly as well.

Thanks
Dave

I think it is indispensable in such cases to exit Steam before each new attempt. The desktop shortcuts all start Steam and if that is already running, it will certainly ignore your parameters for the new start-up that does not happen because Steam is already running. Actually, I make it a habit to exit Steam via the icon in the tray (right bottom corner of the sceen) everytime I terminate Railworks (TS2013).

Hi Dave,

Glad you are all sorted out now, thanks really must go to Mully who had mentioned using this in another Thread to solve another HUD problem.

I do like that FOV command however it would be good if it did not zoom in the cab view so much.
