Check to see if your audio options have reset and knocked EAX to 'off'...?

Paul
I only see 'EFX' in the Audio Settings and that is switched on. :o

Anyone know what this further update was for?
No idea, but I'd like to know myself.

There seem to have been quite a lot of updates to various things all happening within the last 24 hours.

Last night I restarted Steam and got a new update to the Steam Client (which added 'Big Picture' mode for TV displays) - but of course that's nothing to do with TS2013.
Other people are reporting that Adobe's Flash Player also got an update (but not in my case, which is odd). Also nothing to do with TS2013.

I got my first TS2013 update at 13:34 yesterday (despite RSC saying it would be 'tonight' in their announcement - implying evening). That was the publicised 30MB update, as far as I could tell.

I got a second TS2013 update late evening (about 23:15) which seemed smaller - probably 14-15MB, but I missed the exact bytecount. I thought it might have been because I'd hotfixed the Steam version of the JustTrains Bristol-to-Exeter route earlier that evening (I wondered if Steam had spotted it and was rolling back the hotfixed files because it now saw them as different from Steam canon)... but given what other people are writing above, I guess that second TS2013 update was a general rollout to everyone. Maybe they found a glitch and reissued some part of the first update? This would be interesting to know.

I also received a TS2013 Steam Workshop update last night - presumably one of the scenarios I downloaded had also been patched. Nothing directly to do with TS2013 main core, but still it threw me for a moment when I realised it was downloading (at the same time as my second TS2013 update).

It's rather annoying that RSC don't make use of the Steam facility for providing update-related, game-specific news. Especially given that when the main updates occur, there is actually button specifically for this purpose which links to the game-news, right there on the Steam-provided dialog-box! RSC would make a lot more people happier (and save them speculation-time) if only they'd let them know what was actually going on!

As mentioned further up in the thread, there was an update this morning (at least that's when I got it) which from the changed files seems to have been the mentioned flash update, plus some changes (again...) to the DT Light Pacific. Didn't have time to check it any more closely as I had to get to work.

As I said in the other thread on this topic, not only has the ability to remove the Intros by adding a shortcut command gone, but the ability to specify an exact field of view has gone also.

I prefer a cabview that is more set back, so I can see the view ahead but also the controls. Rather than laboriously edit the cabview.bin files for every loco, I did this by altering the field of view setting by adding " -FOV=86" (without the quotes) to the command line in the shortcut. However, it appears that the recent update has disabled this really useful facility. Does anyone know how to fix this so my personalised shortcut will work again?

I can only repeat how good it is to check the forums first about any of these updates. I hope I never get into the situation of needing that fix for the blueprint editor, mine worked fine as far as I used it since the update. Who would want to loose -SkipIntros, except the marketing jerks knowing no limit to the annoyance they bring?

One thing to note for the future: The railworks folder is more important to backup than the Assets and Source.

I always skip the intros by going to put on my cup of brown before going for a drive.

Jeeeez, the second bit of bad news you've brought to the thread! :D

I used the FoV command, too.

If you mean the intro at the beginning of the game just hit the ESC key when they start or if you are using an Xbox controller the A key.

Hi,

While the default engineScript.lua seems to have gone, is it possible to put it back? I believe it is...

I found this thread: http://railworksamerica.com/forum/viewt ... f=6&t=6779
Which contains a copy of the original script, so put it in the right place, change FoV to your desired value, and try it! :-)

(Will try it myself too as soon as I get a chance...)

While the commands don't work in the shortcut, do they still work in the steam client's options? Possibly RSC is trying to keep it all intergrated rather than external influence, since certain malicious means can end up getting around copyright and protections via shortcut creations.

Hi All,

Unfortunately I seem to be having problems with my display after the update(s)
I normally run SSAA2x2 and now find that the HUD is very faint, even on min opacity.
There is also a band at the bottom of the screen that co-insides with the top of the HUD but extends to the edge of the screen.
I also find that the screen is split into 4/5 horizontal light/dark bands.
Non of this was apparent before the update.
I have tried running at MSAAx8 and the HUD goes back to being 'solid' but the bands across the screen remain.
Although not a brilliant spec it has managed efx quite well to date with shadows off.

Just going back to the FOV issue, are you all setting the launch options via the Steam shortcut or are you using desktop shortcuts? I have multiple TS2013 shortcuts in my Steam library with different FOVs, LogMate etc and they all still work absolutely fine for me after the update. Newly-created shortcuts still work as well, here's a test one at SetFOV=150.

You can create shortcuts in Steam via Games>Add a Non-Steam Game to My Library.

I'm still not clear where you're adding the 'SetFOV=150'. Would you be kind enough to spell it out step by step please? I've tried creating a new shortcut via Games>Add a Non-Steam Game to My Library but having done that I can't see anywhere to set launch options.
